Today I am suggesting a route that I would like to see in Train Sim World 5, and this route is probably the longest section of the East Coast Main Line. So let's get straight into it. We already had the East Coast Main Line going from Peterborough to Doncaster with Train Sim World 4. Newcastle to Edinburgh is a route that is in Train Simulator Classic and that route was called ECML North: Newcastle - Berwick & Edinburgh. Newcastle to Edinburgh has the longest section of ECML going from the North East of England in Newcastle-upon-Tyne to the capital of Scotland. The route has over 92 miles of track and will be the longest passenger high speed routes including the likes of Southeastern High Speed, the upcoming Preston - Carlisle over shap route and also the current East Coast Main Line, on to the trains, the trains featured on the route is the Class 800, Class 801 in LNER Livery, and possibly the Class 803 in Lumo Livery to complete the full East Coast Main Line fleet, the Class 800/801 will be doing some of the Grand Central services since we don't have a Class 180 in game at the moment. The Class 800 is a mod currently for PC on the Fife Circle DLC. The route will also feature St James' Park, Newcastle Castle, Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Cathedral, Grey's Monument, Victoria Tunnel Tour's, Great North Museum, Hadrian's Wall, O2 City Hall Newcastle, Kingston Park Stadium, Life Science Centre, Historic England North East & Yorkshire, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Utilila Area Newcastle, St. Mary's Cathedral, Theatre Royal, The High Level Bridge, The Scottish Monument, Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Royal Mile, St Giles' Cathedral, The Real Mary King's Close, The Royal Yacht Britannia, Camera Obscura & World of Illusion's, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Scott Monument, Dean Village, National Museum of Scotland, Greyfrairs Kirkyard Cemetery Edinburgh, Craigmillar Castle, Greyfrairs Bobby Statue, Calton Hill, Scottish Parliament Building, The Georgian House, Scottish Gas Murrayfiled Stadium featured on the ScotRail Express and the Fife Circle Line, Prince's Street, and the last one is St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Newcastle to Edinburgh will require a lot of work and development, this route will feature a lot of famous landmarks in the Newcastle and Edinburgh region, you will get lovely scenery, lot's of AI Traffic, lot's to see, lots of new gameplay, and 92 miles of track, I wonder what Dovetail can do to make the route even more exciting, add an extension from York or Doncaster so it can be the longest East Coast Main Line with over hundreds of miles. I would love to see the 800 and bi-mode electric trains implemented into Train Sim World so in that case we could see the Class 799, Class 769, Class 805 which will be on the West Coast Mainline route, Class 807, and the Class 802 in a future route. Dovetail if you are reading this, please make more LNER Content. This route also includes the North Berwick Branch. The trains AI are the Class 390 Pendolino, ScotRail Class 158, ScotRail Class 170, GWR Class 43 HST representing the ScotRail Inter7City services, ScotRail Class 385 for services to Haymarket and North Berwick, LNWR Class 350/4 representing the TPE Transpennie Express services before they got moved to Bletchley Sidings and the last train will be the Avanti West Coast Class 807 & Class 805 Evero which might be layered onto the West Coast Mainline South
its possible that you get this train: the Class 803 IET in Lumo Livery, you might see them at Haymarket, Morpeth, Newcastle and Waverley stations, probably even the East Coast Main Line: Peterborough - Doncaster add-on
Including the North Berwick branch I assume? 100% Good mix of services and brilliant coastal scenery, if done to a good standard we are looking are possibly the best TSW route ever! A route finally worth a £30 price tag. Really, really good suggestion, would love to see this in TSW.
Class 385 will be layered for services to Glasgow Central via Shotts, North Berwick and playable to drive from Waverley to Haymarket
: The Class 43 HST will be layered into the route for services to Aberdeen, Dundee and probably Inverness. It's possible that in the future you can get this layered and playable if you own the Great Western Express and Fife Circle Line add-ons
. The Class 380 is also going to be layered. Sometimes the 385 goes to Dunbar. Musselburgh is a nice lovely town in Scotland. This is Station number 7
What depots would come with this route, Millerhill is good start for Scotland, can run ECS to Waverley but could also make for a good diversion scenario, as well as freight operations, but where would the Azuma's originate from?
They can either start at Newcastle or Edinburgh Waverley depending on what position your driving. You could be driving on the Edinburgh position for services to Inverness, Stirling, or the Aberdeen service or Glasgow Central service, Newcastle for the King Cross service
Wallyford is the 8th station on the East Coast Mainline: Edinburgh - Newcastle route. Nice lovely station on lovely Scottish please
East Linton is a new station in Scotland that just opened for the Class 380 services. This is going to be station 9 on the route
The next station after East Linton is Prestonpans on the North Berwick Branch. This station is going to be number 10 on the route
This station is Longniddry. It's located on a lovely village in Scotland. Longniddry is station number 11 on the route
This station is of course going to Drem. Drem is the 12th station on the route and is located on the North Berwick branch
It will also feature some kind of blue wagon thing. It is indeed the Railhead Treatment Train/RHTT only if you own Southeastern High Speed
It will feature some other wagons if you own Cargo Line Volume 2 and 1. And later next year Cargo Line Volume 2 and 3
This is the ScotRail Millerhall depot. You can only access this for early morning and night time services
This is the Haymarket depot which you can see on two various add-ons. This is the 15th place you can visit on this station. The total station length of 17 or probably 18
This is Haymarket or Leighton Stepford Road known in SCR. This route will also be called the Edinburgh Commuter as well as Edinburgh - Newcastle. This is going to be station number 14
I would love to see another ECML route in the game and if this one came out it would be a first day buy for me.. I did this route last august on my holiday, when I went from Edinburgh Waverley to London Kings Cross..
Very good. You can even compare it if you have the Doncaster to Peterborough section. Some services do stop at Doncaster or Peterborough. So this will be good for you
Falkirk High is the next station coming to the route. Falkirk High is going to be station number 17 on this route. It is also located on the Edinburgh Commuter line.
This station is Falkirk Grahamston. You can only access this for services to Inverness or Glasgow. Inverness services will be going from Newcastle as far as Falkirk Grahamston. This will be the last station coming to the route. This is station number 18.
This is going to be it for this route suggestion. As this covers everything for this route. For all of the locomotives you would need to own. East Coast Main Line: Peterborough - Doncaster, Great Western Express: London - Reading, Fife Circle Line: Edinburgh - Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, Cathcart Circle Line: Glasgow - Newton - Neilston, Southeastern High Speed: London - Faversham - Ashford & Dartford, East Coastway: Brighton - Seaford & Eastbourne, Cargo Line Volume 1 and Cargo Line Volume 2, and the Railhead Treatment Train DLC
This would be an excellent add-on. We already have enough rolling stock, maybe this would one to add a Retro version, introducing the Deltic and original livery HST. A mix of 101s and 47s with Mk2s on the locals.
Why take it to Falkirk grahmstone? This thread feels very spammy and little detailed. Nice idea. But a bit long for tsw.
We could also see XCN and XHT as depots Please take the below as constructive feedback to improve the suggestion. I do like the idea of more ECML + LNER, but I feel the scope needs to be narrowed as the suggestion slightly derails towards the end, recommending stations that are not on this route. Personally, my favourite bit to come next would be YRK -> NCL, but NCL -> EDB is nice too. This wouldn't complete the fleet. That section of line also sees (in addition to Scotrail + Freight + Northern Trains, for which I am not very knowledgable), TPE 802s and XC 220s + 221s GC don't operate passenger services on that line. They do sometimes store locos at Tyne Yard, but don't routinely run through Newcastle central station - just through the King Edward Bridge East and South Junctions (the bridge is before NCL in the direction of travel towards EDB). The 800 wouldn't be much use on this line, as it is electrified. I would rather DTG added a voyager for example, or an 802 to at least get another brand in the game even though it would function similar to an 801. Occasionally, on Sunday's I think, some diagrams use diesel instead of electric on various bits of that line due to power constraints - but this wouldn't be simulated in game unless DTG made a Sunday timetable - similar to the San Bernardino Weekend timetable. Though I would rather they put their effort into making one strong and accurate timetable. Additionally, the 800 is a mod so console users cannot access it Grey's Monument is not close to the line so may not be visible due to buildings, but also likely would be classed as distance scenery and may not render with the distance I'm not sure if St James' Park would be visible either due to the distance and buildings O2 City Hall likely not visible due to buildings and distance Utilita Arena would just be a spec on the horizon - you would only go past it if going NCL -> KGX direction, not NCL -> EDB direction High Level Bridge would not provide drivable services on this route - you would go past the top of it, so would be unlikely to really even see the architecture of the bridge Theatre Royal - not sure if would be visible I don't know enough about the other things mentioned to comment. Newcastle Castle definitely visible though. Unfortunately people say due to limitations routes that long aren't possible. Though personally, I would love that. AFAIK, none of 799, 769, 805 or 807 would be drivable or AI on this route. 802 would be driveable, and possibly AI too as I think there are a couple of MIA -> EDB 802 diagrams but not 100% sure and may change in the December timetable so not necessarily prototypical come 2025 LNER Content [thumbs up] Personally, I would rather DTG created a ScotRail Inter7City livery for the 43, even if they didn't change the interior, just as GWR 43s are not prototypical currently TPE doesn't have 350/4s anymore - so not prototypical for the time period you stated As mentioned previously, 807 and 805 don't do this route Lumo doesn't go through Haymarket. Would be non stop on the PBO -> DON so AI only, but I agree it would be good for some variety in sights. I know DTG made a provision for Hull Trains in the timetable, can't remember if they did for Lumo or not so may take some time to come - probably in a remaster years down the line if at all. Haymarket is past EDB in that direction. Would be nice for it to be added though. TPE 802s also call at East Linton. Re Station Numbering throughout, East Linton is between NCL and EDB - but guessing you've taken the main stations on the route first in the suggestion and the numbering does not refer to the order on the line? Later next year, volume 3 and 4. Not between NCL and EDB Not between NCL and EDB Not between NCL and EDB - about 30 minutes from EDB on the GR services to/from Inverness.
