Admittedly, I know very little about East German railways and routes....but that's kinda the point of this post. The companies and builders of those locos aren't in existence anymore. The country they are in doesn't technically exist anymore. Therefore the "rights" to the lines and locos shouldn't be a problem. Additionally, they are "historic" without being "fantasy." While it may take a bit of work researching them, it's not as much work as if they were 100 years old steam routes. Many of the East German lines ran until just a few decades ago, and there are people living iwth that knowledge (and who live near to them in Germany still, while many of the lines still exist upgraded) They are a bit unlike anything else we have in game too. Something like the old Soviet M62 diesel hydraulic running from say Hamburg to Berlin could be neat. It could layer on the existing routes too since Dresden area was in East Gerrmany, and the locos continued to be used for years after the merging of Germany. (Yes I know the purists will say that those routes are too new, but there are heritage rail tours I guess? Not sure if there'd be a market for a revamped "aged" version of the dresden routes to modern standards with East German scenery, signals, rolling stock, infrastructure, but it'd be a LOT of reuse of what exists so could presumably be made "on the cheap" for a relatively low sale cost. Just spitballing. A purely new route like Hamburg-Berlin would be the best, just tossing other related ideas out there. Seems relatively low risk/high reward given how much people love Dresden and German trains, want more diesels (especially for freight) and so much information is available locally for companies that already make German content for TSW. The DR 130 classes would be another option for East German locos that lasted until the 2000s (I think a few are even still in service) The routes up by Rostock don't seem to get much love and would be very interesting as a port, an oil terminus, freight terminal and passenger services, during or after the cold war.
Excellent Idea and for DTG they have Rapid Transit Dresden Chemnitz Werdau Dresden Riesa Leipzig routes in Game they just need Backdated to the GDR era with the following locos 243 250 DR V100. Since you mentioned DR BR130 that's the RSN DLC loco.
Good topic! Of course, some manufacturers from the former GDR no longer exist. But that doesn't just apply to rail vehicle manufacturers, whose trains are still on the rails. It's not that easy with the licenses either. If a manufacturer no longer exists, patents or trademark rights can still be registered. That's why new manufacturers should always find out beforehand or come to an agreement with former license holders. But back to the track. Finally, in 1994, the former Bundesbahn and Reichsbahn merged. With the founding of Deutsche Bahn AG, all real estate, such as stations, infrastructure and rolling stock, became the property of DB AG or simply DB. The entire German rail network is and remains state property, only maintenance contracts are awarded to railway construction companies. The signaling and safety technology of the former East German Reichsbahn could never really keep up with the former Bundesbahn, as there were constant technological availability problems in the GDR. In addition, the maximum speed at that time was only 120 km/h, as the rail infrastructure was only designed for that. One reason was the socialist planned economy that existed throughout Eastern Europe. Of course, there were very good engineers here too, who always tried to make the best of what was available. Some routes or stations, such as Dresden, could only be properly renovated after the fall of the Berlin Wall and then were connected to the international rail network with ICE or EC trains. Tourism has also developed splendidly in the region. Dresden in particular has always been a residential city shaped by the baroque and Saxon princes. Many international companies and students are also drawn to the region. That is why it is and remains a popular destination. A pro pro BR130: it was the first series of the East German V300 family that was delivered to the Reichsbahn from the former Soviet Union. According to the RGW or CMEA, heavy diesel locomotives were only allowed to be built in the USSR. It was intended as a universal locomotive, but unfortunately no electric train heating was installed as standard, although it had been ordered. Socialist planned economy, after all. That's why passenger trains were only driven with it in the warm summer months. Due to the lack of electric train heating, other locomotives were delivered directly as freight train locomotives with the designation BR131 and had a lower maximum speed of 100 km/h. When electric train heating could finally be installed as standard, over 700 more locomotives were ordered, which could then be used universally. These are the BR132s, which are being worked on for a TSW implementation as BR232. Because the tendency towards retro design has returned and many people find DB red to be a uniformity, there are again many railtours to be seen in former DR liveries. Since direct GDR versions of East German routes are not best sellers in the train simulator sector, it will certainly only be historical railtours in TSW in the future...
Correct and you forgot about the DR Baureihe 119 this was made in Romania by the 23 of August works. Link is from the German Wikipedia on DR Baureihe 119.
