As eastcoasway was a tsw 2020 route, I feel it needs a remaster as it is becoming an abandoned route. We are about to get my favourite remaster which is Great Western Express, but I feel an eastcoastway remaster will bring more love to lovers of the eastcoastway. One thing to note is there isn't water on the route (only bit of water is by the ferry at Newhaven harbour) which it crucial for a route like this, but it was a tsw original. The 377 also needs to be changed to the bml version as the current version is rubbish for the route. New ai at Brighton needs to be brought, for example the 700 and 387s. Apart from that, new lighting and some new scenery would make the route much better.
Hopefully it happens at some point, of course Liam needs a break as he has done superb on the gwe, but maybe the same time gap between when WSR got remastered to Cathcart
With the new route-hopping feature, an extension to Ashford International would be brilliant! Imagine it: Start at Victoria, Gatwick Express to Brighton Route-hop to East Coastway At Brighton, take Electrostar to Eastbourne At Eastbourne, take Turbostar to Ashford Route-hop to Southeastern Highspeed At Ashford, take Javelin to St. Pancras Route-hop to London Commuter Repeat. It would require an extension and a Turbostar, and I fully expect this to come at a cost. Interestingly, as much as I want to see the East Coastway remastered, it doesn't feel right without an extension to go with it. Perhaps an LIRR2 style update is required here...
From the current state of the route, I haven't played it for nearly a year. I feel having the route extended to Ore/Hastings will make the route much playable for me than currently. In addition, adding the missing Victoria to Eastbourne/Ore services as well fixing the sounds of the 377 to London Commuter standards. Would be even more ideal to have another extension north to Wivelsfield to take advantage of the route hopper feature coming to TSW5. Imagine driving all the way from Victoria to Eastbourne or Hastings. Knowing DTG, the least I can expect is an upgrade to TSW5 standards on lighting and design as well the addition of Victoria services being added.
Don't know about that, Koln-Aachen is actually alright as is Essen and Bochum, actually many of the pre TSW German routes are still pretty good.
I also hope for a paid extension to Ashford with a class 171 rather than a remaster, it is a bit short otherwise. If JustTrains can do over 100 miles for WCMLOS, it shouldn't be too difficult for DTG to do about 40 miles through mostly countryside to Ashford
East Coastway would be nice with an extension to Hastings with any remaster. But BML should he infront of it for a remaster as it has for more to offer.
Once again, I'd take a remaster as opposed to nothing at all. The full rebuild at cost sounds good but obviously less likely. Whatever happens, the one key improvement required is the BML traffic being added at Brighton as it is bizarrely quiet as it is now. A masterlist here would be fantastic itemising everything that requires a change such as I created for GWE.
Yes to all points above. Ashford would also be a decent end point but I would settle for Hastings and Ore.
Wouldn’t hurt to upgrade them to TOD 4. That said I still enjoy some of the TSW2 route the way they are. I still enjoy Bakerloo Line as I’m a fan of underground / Metro type routes.
It’ll probably get a remaster in the future we’ll just gotta wait and i’d appreciate a remaster because i got some fond memories with the route.
I think it would be nice to see some attention given to the backdated routes (NTP/TVL) seeing as the last two remasters have been of modern routes and there has been a lot of development in the last year with things such as the guards whistle, horns, exhaust smoke, etc, which the routes would benefit from greatly. Even then ECW would be lower on my list, but don't see much actual reason why it shouldn't be done though.
NTP is one of the best routes in the game and it's a shame it's been shown little love by DT. To have NTP remastered would make it an absolute masterpiece and possibly just as good as JTs Blackpool branches.
I'd quite like to see a proper Class 377/1 and Class 377/3 subclass feature at some point as well, especially the latter which would allow for 3-car substitution with the Class 313 on the Seaford services. Nowadays Seaford services are mostly operated by the /3 anyway.
I was disappointed when the route was announced that it wasn't going to Hastings, it's still a shame so I'd love an extension but would be happy with a remaster, more layers could be added at Brighton (The GatEx 387s for example) and the missing Victoria-Eastbourne via Lewes could be added.
Considering the short length of the route, I think it would be one of the smaller tasks to redo the lighting and light baking for ECW, so definitely a candidate. My simple ToD4 mod shows what difference the lighting already makes by just changing the reference from TOD3 sky to TOD4...
It's a long way to reach Blackpool level. Vegetation is very sparse on NTP, and lots of bare "LIDAR" hills featuring only some hedgerows.
Yes, now you’re talking. With the BML remastered too. Having one remastered without the other will make route hopping look weird, going from TOD5 to TOD2. TSW7/8 route merging becomes a reality and both ECW and BML seamlessly co exist on the same route map. A man can dream.
I would love to see ECW remastered. I love driving the class 313 on the Seaford branch. I would take NTP first for a remaster though. It would benefit from a TOD4 overhaul and a new timetable, adding in the 31 and 3 car class 101.
Why just ECW? It would be much better if we have BML merged with ECW as well as adding the connection out of Lewes.
That would probably be the best for pc, but with consoles, there is a certain limit in terms of memory. If the ECW merged with bml, then chances are the whole route might crash
I know that, but BML already have 377s, 313s and Class 66 when layered. Also since newer routes are less memory intensive, it might be really possible.
I don't necessarily want a remaster of this route (although I wouldn't be opposed to it), I just want them to update the 377 sounds. It's the only reason why I haven't played this route in years.
I find the brakes just fine! They are certainly better than the 313's! Also, Step 2 is a normal brake application for slowing down for stations and such.
