I thought it would be cool to do a thread on some of the unique scenery along some of the routes or easter eggs that might be hidden away (if there are any). Since a lot of the buildings in the game are generic assets that are re-used all over the place (which is understandable) it is cool to see from time to time a specific and unique item. One I like (which most people have probably seen) is along the main line in Hyndman, PA on Sand Patch Grade there are two vintage Chessie System cabooses on display just adjacent to the active track. I was curious if these actually existed or were just added for fun by DTG... it turns out they are there in real life, and are actually owned by a caboose enthusiast who bought them from CSX and restored them into their old paint schemes. http://www.bullsheet.com/bullsheet.com/atmsa.html
That's a cool backstory. Also, one of the collectible hardhats is hidden on one of the caboose's steps, so it even pays to check them out. I liked the hot air balloon that floated by while I was driving in SKA, though I think not putting the TSW2 logo on it was a lost opportunity.
