The East Coast Main Line is familiar to millions of British travellers as the main connection from London to Edinburgh, and now you can travel back to the 1970s and drive along some of the fastest stretches of this important railway line in Train Sim world 3: ECML North East

HELLO EVERYONE! Today I will be suggesting the Backdated ECML North East route which is one of the classic TSC routes, as to what the route has to other: The route of the ECML was originally constructed in the 19th Century by the North British, North Eastern and Great Northern Railway companies individually. York eventually became the headquarters for the entire line, its impressive station and enormous 295-lever signal box (the largest manual signal box in Britain) imprinting the city in history as one of the country’s most important railway centres. The world speed record for steam locomotives was set on the line at Stoke Bank back in 1938, and in the late 20th Century much of the ECML was relayed for modern high speed running, beginning with the fearsome Deltic locomotives and continuing with the ubiquitous HST sets which still operate today. Now Onto the rolling stock:

This would be my number one choice for another BR Blue route. The best thing being the layering/reuse potential allowing for a lot of stock variety; where we could have the Class 08, 20, 31, 37, 45, 47, 55, 101 and HST running alongside each other. The Class 20 and Class 37 would make for a good freight expansion pack if modified into BR Blue livery, and Mk2 aircons would be a good companion to the Deltic. Some HAA wagons for heavy coal trains would be fabulous also.

Good suggestion mate, I would adore to see this route in this era with the Deltics. As said above every piece of existing BR blue rolling stock can be used from the Peaks to the 08s. Brilliant suggestion mate.

Layering is Cool but its a bit annoying in general how many addons you need for a realistic experience - Albeit yeah the layering would make this route AMAZING.

Yeah they do as I stated - The annoying part is cost that was what I was saying. Tbh though if they did I would rather them stay away from BR blue and maybe go for the other BR eras?

Well on any BR route from the mid-late 60s through to the end of BR blue wouldn't be out of place though at either end of the spectrum it would be rarer.

Excellent idea and for the Class 47 it should have been layered from Huddersfield Line NTP instead of being added here. In its place a Class 56 031 & up BREL 001-030 Communist Romania (001-030 made in Romania should allow DTG to make DCZ and Riesa-Dresden DR BR119 also made in Romania like Class 56 001-030) or Class 50 locomotive
HST needs Paxman Valenta engines to fit.
Furthermore why not set this 1989 that way it can merge with TVL at Darlington assuming both routes have Darlington as common origin same way as Main Spessart Bahn and SFS Hannover Würzburg use Würzburg Hbf as common origin point.

In my opinion this route wouldn't work merged with TVL as to put it bluntly TVL isn't that good of a route and also it seems a little pointless in my opinion and would just uneedingly add an extension to the route - especially when TVL isn't even the complete line.

Find that helpful then so in your proposal TVL can give 20 37/5 31 & 101 here AI traffic at Darlington towards Saltburn.

A 56 would be nice but a 50 wouldn't really fit in as although I remember seeing a few of them in 78 and 79 it in was incredibly rare (and by rare I mean I only saw maybe 10 in these two years, definitely no more) and I believe they were usually detached or attached at Doncaster or otherwise didn't make it far north of York on the mainline. The only reason they were round here was because they were being refurbished at Doncaster.
As said above I don't think it should be merged with TVL but due to different reasons. In 1989 the Deltics were gone, the Peaks were gone and the 91s weren't running there so it wouldn't feel as varied and busy.

Also the HST would have to be in it's original blue and grey (and yellow) livery with, as you say, the Valenta engines.

Deltic era ECML would be a Day One purchase for me. York to Newcastle a little long but why not? You get the racetrack from York to Darlington then the slightly more interesting section through Durham to Newcastle, curves, viaducts and rolling hills with the final spectacular crossing of the Tyne over the King Edward or High Level bridges.
