This is my suggestion for the East Coast Mainline (ECML) - but between Peterborough and York Most people on here suggest Peterborough to London Kings Cross (which i totally understand) but i personally think Peterborough to York offers a lot more potential in Train Sim World 3, and i'll outline why below Before i continue.. i apologise in advance as I don't have any photos to add. The route between Peterborough and York is 112 miles long (i will explain more about why i believe this is achievable for Train Sim World 3 below) Despite the long length of this route, there are only 6 stations that would need modelling (Peterborough, Grantham, Newark Northgate, Retford, Doncaster and York) which is significantly less than almost all routes currently in the game, therefore less modelling is required. Also a significant amount of scenery along this stretch is flat farmland, so would not require a lot of intensive modelling along a lot of the route. So given the fact there are only 6 stations and relatively easy scenery to model, i believe it would allow for a route of such length to actually be possible. The below assumes this route is set in the present day using LNER Class 800 Azuma, however there is of course the possibility to set the route earlier and include Class 225 / Class 43 etc There would be a surprising amount or variety in terms of service patterns on this route, including: 1 train per 2 hours running the full route, calling at all stops 1 train per 2 hours running between Newark Northgate and Peterborough, calling at Grantham only 1 train per hour running the full route, but only calling at Newark North Gate and Doncaster 1 train per hour between Peterborough and Doncaster, calling at Grantham only 1 train per hour between Peterborough and Doncaster, calling at Newark Northgate only There are a few services than run non-stop between Peterborough and York, and also the possibility of a few AI services running non stop from York down to London too. Also i know there are other operators on this route, and plenty of branch lines for example to Lincoln etc.. but to keep this suggestion simple I am proposing one route (York to Peterborough) with one train (LNER Azuma) There is also the option to include the relatively new depot on the Doncaster approach that hosts the Azuma trains. So given that there are only 6 stations and relatively straightforward, uncomplicated scenery along large parts of the route.. i think the length of 112 miles is justified. ** If the route would instead be Peterborough to London Kings Cross, it would be less mileage but a significant amount more work to produce, including over 20 stations and much more intensive scenery building, which is why this route option is (in my opinion) a much stronger option ** This route would allow services between 30 minutes long (Peterborough to Newark Northgate), all the way to 90 minutes long (Peterborough to York all stops) with many options inbetween. It would also allow a real highspeed route to be added to the game, with trains running along the route at 125 mph for significant sections. Anyway this is my suggestion.. Peterborough to York (ECML) in the modern era.. and why i believe it is a significantly better option than Peterborough to London Kings Cross. Thank you, Katia
very nice suggestion, would love to see this as a PBO local. i’ve made a suggestion on kings cross - peterborough myself as personally i prefer metro/commuter style driving but i would take this route any day of the week if it were to be made
This is easier to make and in train simulator classic you have Class 91 Class 66 & 158 for the route. In the TSW3 version 91 800 801 158 freight 88 electro-diesel. The trend you are going to see on some of the newer routes is that they are originally train simulator classic routes that were requested into the game
Yes that would be a good route, Also well done for the amazing amount of effort put into writing this!
Very good suggestion. I would love to see the ECML in game as I have worked on it for years but this section in particular would be the section I would like most as for all but about 5 years of my life I have lived with this beautiful section of line in view from my house. What I would do is set it summer 2019 so we can have the 800s/801s and the HST which can be modified from GWE version and then leave the 91 as potential dlc as this way only one new full unit needs to be made but two come with the route to add a bit of variety. I am so desperate to see the ECML that I wouldn't complain about it being modern, though I would prefer it with Deltics and Valentas!
I regularly use this section of line to travel between York and Peterborough and it is what I think when someone says high speed intercity route so would love to see it in game.
yes, i would love this section in tsw 3 as it features the UKs first high speed line; the selby diversion which is 30 miles of straight high speed from doncaster to york
Six months ago i made this suggestion... and now it is becoming a reality (minus the Doncaster-York section, but i am more than happy with Peterborough-Doncaster!) I cannot believe this is coming to tsw4, i wasn't born in the UK but i have lived close to this line for most of my life, i know the stretch between Doncaster and Newark Northgate like the back of my hand.. i often go walking close to the line near Retford across some of the lesser known foot crossings, i drive over the ECML level crossings near Retford everyday to go between home and work, this section of the line between Doncaster and Peterborough is a big part of my life. there is a lot of (in my opinion unfair) negativity about this section of the route being chosen for tsw (such as why no kings cross, why no york, why no newcastle, why no edinburgh, why not longer and why not more trains and so on and so on).. i can't speak for anyone else but i can speak for myself.. this route is perfect. The choice of section, the choice of traction, i still can't believe this is coming to tsw and i'm so happy that it is.. anyone who lives near this route will know why this is such a good choice so whoever chose to make the ECML between Peterborough and Doncaster, and resisted the calls for Kings Cross to Peterborough, thank you! You have 100% made the right choice and i cannot wait to see this route next month. you've made one local girl very, very happy so thank you! Katia
Agree, I also live along this section between Peterborough and Grantham and this is perfect. I am also lucky enough to have this route in front of my eyes rushing by every working day, so look forward to giving it a go in TSW. If I can do a run HUDless then we know DTG have done well.
Maybe we could also have a Peterborough / Newark North Gate to Lincoln or even better to Nottingham to layer with the Midland Mainline route, giving us EMR and freight routes from places like Humber Oil refinery - Kingsbury, Immingham - Ratcliffe etc.
