My suggestion for the next UK route would be the ECML south from London Kings Cross/London St Pancras International to Peterborough with a total route length of approximately 76 miles. The route would be set in the present day with the updated/revamped London Kings Cross & Canal Tunnels through to St Pancras in the Thameslink Core. As standard the route would come with the following trains- Class 800 (5/9 car) for LNER Services Class 700 (12 car) for Thameslink Services Class 717 for Metro style services And as a possible DLC Train/Loco for the future- Class 91 “Intercity 225” for LNER services Possible layers could include- Class 387 (with a possible redone interior into great northern style with a great northern livery) Rail tours utilising Steam and various Diesel locos Freight services/ using the Class 66 Class 465 drags (unique to a 2022 summer/autumn timetable if done) with either the class 66 or class 37 RHTT in autumnal months throughout whole line As a possible route extension for the future, the Hertford Loop + Northern City line could be a DLC in the future after the main route would release. This route would have a high variety of services ranging from short distance commuter services in and out of the capital to Welwyn Garden City using the Class 717 to semi-fast/stopping Thameslink services to Peterborough and Hitchin (cambridge services) using the Class 700 and finally high speed/non stop Lner Azuma services with the class 800. The route could use either a 2019 timetable (so pre-covid) or the current 2022 timetable as it is pretty much fully running how it did then. i think including St Pancras International low level would add more immersion/realism as Thameslink services from Peterborough only use kings cross regularly on sundays. Stations on the route (from South to North) would be - London Kings Cross/St Pancras Low Level Finsbury Park Harringay Hornsey Alexandra Palace New Southgate Oakleigh Park New Barnet Hadley Wood Potters Bar Brookmans Park Welham Green Hatfield Welwyn Garden City Welwyn North Knebworth Stevenage Hitchin Arlesey Biggleswade Sandy St Neots Huntingdon Peterborough The route would feature the main depots of the ECML south at Bounds Green & Hornsey aswell as various carriage sidings at locations such as Welwyn Garden City and Peterborough (Nene & Spital) Stations on a possible route extension would include- Watton-at-Stone Hertford North Bayford Cuffley Gordon Hill Enfield Chase Grange Park Winchmore Hill Palmers Green Bowes Park —— back on to main route Drayton Park Highbury & Islington Essex Road Old Street Moorgate This route would more than likely be extremely popular and a really good business choice as there would be a high amount of sales due to the routes popularity. This route would also be a smart choice as alan thomson simulations recently joined TSW in the development sector of which the team from alan thomson sim have shown previous talent in creating the ECML South in Train Sim Classic. Using the class 700 on other routes as layers- The Thameslink Class 700 could also be used on existing routes such as SEHS and London Commuter as they both have class 700s operating on these lines but aren’t in the game. Overall i personally think this would be the best route possible to be added into TSW3 due to its length, variety and possibilities of services and i hope other people would agree. Thanks for reading
Very nice I always welcome new rolling stock and new routes as someone with autism love the challenge posed by new routes and rolling stock
This has to be top of the list for most wanted routes. If we can't get two new train types with it (Class 700 and Class 800 series) then it would be better if the Class 700 came as a loco DLC for SEHS or BML beforehand then layered onto this route as appropriate. That way the Class 800 would be the only new train needing built, with the Class 387 and Class 717 being part builds of existing stock.
yes this would be a smart plan, however this would then mean that it would be more expensive as you’d have to buy the loco for around £15 then the route for £30 meaning £45 in total to own a route with the realistic rolling stock, but it would certainly be better than nothing
