In this suggestion, I am suggesting the the ECML from York to Newcastle with a modernised and extended Tees Valley Line from Darlington to Bishop Auckland and the section from Northallerton to Eaglescliffe. The line set between 2017 and 2019 before Nova 1 entered service and when 185s and 225s dominated this stretch of the ECML. With Sprinters having dominated the present day Tees Valley Line. New stations on this expanded route includes: York Thirsk Northallerton Yarm North Road Heighington Newton Aycliffe Shildon Bishop Aukland Durham Chester-le-street Newcastle. Rolling Stock: This expanded route will use a different variety of rolling stock. This includes: Class 156 NT Class 158 NT Class 185 TPE Class 91 + Mark 4 + DVT LNER Potential Loco DLC and New Journeys Expansion style dlc. Class 221 in XC livery as a new loco. HST in LNER livery as a New Journeys Expansion style dlc. Layers: Freight services using the class 66 from SEHS hauling a variety of freight including Tankers, Aggregates and Intermodal RHTT services on the Tees Valley Line. Railtour from York to Saltburn and back using the West Somerset Railway class 47 and Mark 1 coaches top and tails. Hope you like this suggestion.
No matter what they put it'll probably be a 66 instead. We've got 5 versions of it so that number will grow over the years.
Probably the best extension suggestion I've seen in a while. It would be nice to have the ecml in tsw3 and sprinters. This is so much better than the gwe and ecw extension which have been suggested.
Bring it on and for the 156 and 158 these can also layer to their Trans Pennine mainline the Calder Valley Line if made. Speaking of ECML section another DLC locomotive for it is Class 89 or Class 55 Deltic
Thinking realistically this would be much better done in the 70s. All you would need new would be a class 55 and a 108 as well maybe. Then you can layer 47s onto the expresses, 45/1s on the XC NE/SW runs, 40s and 31s on the more secondary passenger runs and 101s can join 108s on the locals. In all honesty though any ECML route in any era would do the job for me!
