After the WSR remaster and seeing the same being done to GWE and possibly releasing soon (it can't be too far away now seeing the screenshots of it). My suggestion for the next route remaster is the East coastway route which is certainly looking out of date now that it is almost 5 years old (I'm pretty sure). For those of you who may not be familiar with ECW it's the route from Brighton to Eastbourne and Seaford, it includes the class 377 and has the class 313 as an add-on. Now I think this route is looking very lacking in terms of scenery etc, and I'm sure there are plenty of you who agree with me on that. Yes it is a great route and I love it, but a remaster would really suit it and the route would definitely benefit from it (and maybe a little extension to Ore if possible). I think this would certainly increase popularity and just simply bring it up to current standards similar with WSR, and GWE as it is looking fantastic in screenshots and I'm looking forward to seeing it. I absolutely love the idea of these free remasters (free for people who own the route). In a lot of cases people can get bored with playing the old routes as the details are often poor and it gets repetitive, a remaster just provides exactly what those players need and many have said how they love GWE and are really looking forward to seeing it's upgrade as I am too. East coastway is amazing and I love being able to take both branches, and drive both 313 and 377 on their respective services. And can't forget the little one train per day going in and out of Newhaven marine (correct me if I'm wrong but Newhaven marine is not correct as in the time of the route it should still have the old platform there). I'm sure many people would be very happy with a remaster on this route and I would love to see it! Everyone let me know your thoughts on this aswell Thanks for your attention
Think in addition to a remaster this is a route crying out for extension - through to Hastings and Ore also maybe Lewes back to Haywards Heath on the BML.
This route deserves and requires the SEHS treatment in order to add the much needed track mileage. A rebuild might be better than a remaster but I really doubt DTG would even ever consider it.
In the ideal world it would get extended and networked into BML. But as we are just seeing with the Ludwigwotsit German route, they just cannot break the mould of separate standalone 40 mile routes.
That's exactly what we need but knowing what dtg are like now if we can't even get new routes with actual length and more than one new train I highly doubt we're gonna ever get route merges. If anyone's gonna do anything even close to that probably just trains, the only dev who actually gives us some quality content
I doubt they're gonna do anything anyone actually wants. They're too busy giving us short lazy versions of routes nobody even asked for. This is one of the reasons I am very picky with what I buy in tsw. It's gotta have something I really want and good quality for me to even get it.
ECW should have gone to Ore, perhaps even Ashford as well as have the Wivelsfield branch line from the start. The very same can be said for GWE missing the Thames Valley branches without a single one included, WCL missing the Falmouth branch and TVL without the Bishop Auckland and Boulby branches. All examples of cutting the route in bizarre locations.
Probably one of the most ridiculous examples of it is in the peak forest route, cutting it at Ambergate where barely any services stop is just complete laziness, they could have at least included the extra 13 miles to Derby, and being a short route already that extra distance wouldn't do much harm surely plus it could make the route somewhat more interesting but no, they have to cut it back as always
I totally agree that Derby would have been more than reasonable and cannot understand why it was not done. If it is due to performance issues, then why was BML not cut off something like Brighton to East Croydon with no section to London Victoria? Laziness seems to be the only realistic conclusion to draw from the situation.
As in Victoria to Brighton and Victoria to Ore via Wivelsfield Cooksbridge and Plumpton. Things an extension/merge of ECW and BML should have: New Stations: Streatham Hill Norwood Junction Wandsworth Road Cooksbridge Plumpton Pevensey Bay Pevensey and Westham Cooden Bridge Collington Bexhill St Leonard’s WS Hastings Ore New trains Class 700 Brighton to Norwood Junction (Bedford) Class 710 Clapham Junction and Battersea Park Platform 1 to Wandsworth Road (Dalston Junction) Class 170 southern Remove the Southeastern division trains Merge the part 1 and 2 timetabled GWR 166 journeys from Reigate to Redhill part1 and Redhill to Gatwick Airport part 2 to Reigate to Gatwick Airport as 1 journey.
i wouldn't just throw around the word lazy for every inconvenience. 13 miles is still 13 miles of manual labor. Have you ever driven 13 miles and seen how long that is and how much is in that scenery wise? That is a massive amount of work. They have a limited budget and time to work with unfortunately. Regarding your other comment on them not creating anything players want, there were plenty of suggestions that were made into releases. Brighton mainline for example was one. Players wanted a long high speed route and kwg was created. And many more. So that means them ignoring players completely is also wrong.
