Found by user Raphael in the TSC Discord, all the way back on March 9th 2023 In the files for the Class 385 for Edinburgh Glasgow, under View/Audio/Resources/Survey, there is a sound file named "S_Class385_BrakeSqueal". It completely blends in with the surrounding sound files, but when played... https://soundcloud.com/user-718370347/s-class385-brakesqueal Yep, a creepy numbers station easter egg, hidden in plain sight, in the sound files for the Class 385. It seems to be based off of the old British numbers stations with the crackly female voice. The transcribed version of the audio: 54 68 65 53 65 63 72 65 74 49 73 48 69 64 64 65 6E 42 65 6E 65 61 74 68 54 68 65 49 73 6C 73 It only gets even creepier when you put the file through a spectrogram view Alextrostar in the TSC Discord found out that the numbers are ASCII character in hex, which leads to the decoded message: TheSecretIsHiddenBeneathTheIsls And unfortunately, that's about all we have after a year of searching. The audio file doesn't get used on either Isle of Wight route, or the Edinburgh Glasgow route, so the current idea is that it can be somehow activated onboard the Class 385. There is a suspicious sound file from the Isle of Wight in the files for the Class 385 of the waves crashing sound effect, but that is most likely a false lead, because the Class 484 has it as well. I'm posting this here to hopefully get more eyes and brains on it, I'd love to find out what the "Isls" is, or what the secret hidden beneath them is. Is this just a troll by Rivet, or is there truly a larger mystery to unravel?
So you mean that they maked all this *q#@€k* but didn't made proper sounds for the 385 ?!! Naah common Rivet... Set your priorities please
That's my bad, the missing "n" in "beneath" was a typo in the original conversion, but Isls is intentionally missing an E
When you brought up British Numbers Station I had no idea what is was so I searched it on google. I found an abbreviation that almost matches the last 4 letters you are trying to break the code for. British Secret Intelligence Service BSIS or bsIs so if you are looking for IsIs then we just need to find the word for the first letter British.
Well I certainly hope I'm not going to start seeing a certain Reznov after listening to that. But seriously, that's pretty amazing but also pretty creepy. Especially if it is connected to something, it'd be pretty interesting to see what a TSW ARG would be like.
The IS IS ?? Anything to do with this line? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isis_railway_line Or cracked wheels? https://www.isis.stfc.ac.uk/Pages/Letting-the-train-take-the-strain.aspx Or vandalism at Gourock? https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/news/14349634.train-vandal-attack-on-isis-at-gourock-station/ Or a route extension to GWML? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:River_Isis_Bridge_(rail)
Wow thats actually interesting. The Isis Bridge made me thinking if there is actually a River in Britain that is called Isis. As im from Germany i had no Clue but i found something interesting. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Isis Even if this absolutely misleading, I've learned something Edit : beneath the Isis. Due to that Wikipedia Page im pointing to Oxford. But absolutely unsure if i messed something up here
Doh! 6c == lower case L, yup, sorry! Must be time for me to retire, my eyes clearly don't work any more
Would Beneath The Isles refer to the underground. So, possibly a tube connection, or there's a hidden cave in one of Rivets' routes?
Random thought, is there something hiding under both Isle of Wight routes, probably both out of playable areas, both being Rivet's handy work........
