My 3rd suggestion and my first Scottish suggestion for a new UK route would be the Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High line. The route would be set in the present day with the electrification completed and glasgow queen street being finished. As standard the route would come with: Hitachi Class 385 Emu The trains are usually seen in either 4 or 8 car formations, and rarely seen are 3 car units however they’re not common due to no first class which is required for these services. The line features 9 stations, listed in order from East to West below: Edinburgh Waverley Haymarket Edinburgh Park (not served by these services) Linlithgow Polmont Falkirk High Croy Lenzie Bishopbriggs Glasgow Queen Street (High Level) As this route only needs one train to create the near realistic immersive experience, it would be easy for DTG to create. The timetable sees trains departing each of the key city’s every 15 minutes meaning a frequent service will always be seen so the route won’t be so quiet. Possible layers: Railtours using Steam and Diesel Locos RHTT in autumnal months Inter7city ECS movements/seen in parts of the route regularly, however this will mean that the current HST will need the Inter7city livery applied just for layers which isn’t ideal for dtg If my previous route suggestion (ECML South) was to be made before this, the Class 800 Lner Azuma could be used as AI at Edinburgh Waverley to Haymarket to add immersion to the route, however this would rely on the latter. Overall i think it would be an interesting route with really cool traction with the 385 being able to be used on the Cathcart Circle line if players wished to. Thanks for reading
What Falkirk High can do if one has Cathcart Circle is give Class 385 layers there with Cathcart 2019 as the option if both are owned. That way Shields Road TMD has 314s 385s peak services.
I would love to see this! Been on the route myself IRL and suggested it myself as well! Well done! This is a great suggestion and I would love to see this in the game. Be aware most services going from Glasgow Queen Street stop at only: Croy Falkirk High Polmont Bishopbriggs Edinburgh Waverly
So do I, average route length in terms of Rivet and can't wait for what Jasper + team has been "hiding" from us for the last couple of months
I've been on the Carstairs line and the Falkirk line and I have to say, the Falkirk line is much more scenic. Although, I'm sure rivet will screw it up somehow.
When I suggested this route on the rivet forums they said they had alot of suggestions for this route and mine was basically more of a vote. It's about time I suppose!
So I hope Haymarket and Waverley stations include AI to Dublane,Alloa,Dumbarton Central, queen street via,Shotts, via Cumbernald, class43 to cardenden. Wow this could be great
Let me uncrack this then... Dunblane/Alloa services would be playable anyway Dumbarton Central would require a 334 Queen Street via Shotts isn't possible, I presume you mean Central, that could work Queen Street via Cumbernauld is a potential option to have a contrast in service pattern ScotRail IC7 HST with Fife Circle Line, a big no go, what is the point in that, that would be a separate route, HSTs would be better suited to ECS moves to/fro Haymarket Depot and playable services between Haymarket and Waverley as a DLC with the sliding-doored Mk3s on this route Hope this clears your service suggestions up
So here's what the possible route schedule can look like. I can't tell what other routes the 385 does for other possible short services and AI. Looks like if they go with the current time table service is every 30 minutes except from 715AM to 9:45AM and 16:15 to 18:45 which runs service every 15 minutes. I'll look to see what AI trains we can see on parts of the route.
There’s isn’t much service off this line, there may be the odd Glasgow to Falkirk service and stuff like that. The only real offshoot would be the Stirling/Dunblane/Alloa branch which had trains from both Edinburgh & Glasgow so that would be good. In terms of the gold section on the map, the airport isn’t served by the railway, there is a station on the Fife line called Edinburgh Gateway that interchanges with trams, so wouldn’t think that would be included.
It kinda has to be included because the trains run through that station. Although it would be wired having an empty station with no services running through it.
Ah on second looks it must be Edinburgh Park rather than Edinburgh Gateway as is also a tram interchange there. My mistake.
No problem. The station itself is called Edinburgh Park but I think the airport is called Edinburgh Gateway. (Not entirely sure on that).
