Realistically there wont be a Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverley, it will definitely be Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley with the Class 170 set before the 385s took over.
I think it most likely that when next DTG use their ScotRail license, it will be something involving the Class 380, allowing for a Cathcart DLC and/or AI trains at Glasgow Central. The Inverclyde line to Gourock, or the very busy Ayrshire Coast route. The only trains between G Central and Edinburgh are run by Cross Country, not Scotrail, so there is a licensing problem.
As dasmith1 says, it would most likely be Q. Street - Edinburgh, however a 380 - on any route - would be good. I was on one today for the first time in about a year so im bound to say that but still.
To the best of my knowledge, the Scotrail trains from Edinburgh run to Queen Street, not Central. And LNER only extends one tpd from Edinburgh into GC- hardly worth negotiating a new license for.
Ok I'll give you the LNER one your right there, but there are plenty of ScotRail services to Glasgow Central from Edinburgh.
