It has been a rather big topic since release - to edit formations for scenario planner. Especially routes with shorter tracks are then very limiting as other trains are simply too long (or you can only put in the locos alone). I can imagine the situation is not as easy as in TSxxxx QuickDrive, where basically the only condition is a compatible coupling and having an engine. Here the code is so complex, that trains like DB 423 and 425 might not even work together. But what if we could have a simple version able to satisfy most people? I guess most of us only have a problem with the consist lengths. Not to destroy anyone's dreams, but having AC4400W pull Dostos might be very low on the priority list. So what if the formations had strictly given, WHAT's in them and we could tweak the NUMBER (limited of course by the overall number of cars/locos the game can handle)? Examples: -Let's say you pick a formation of AC4400W+autoracks - the game would then ask you how many locomotives you want, how many autoracks (perhaps if any locos should be at the end) and give you the length for point selection. -You pick DB BR 423 (an uneditable formation), the game would ask you, how many "copies" you want to be coupled (1,2,3,4,...). This number COULD be limited to prevent braking the game -You pick Baby Bullet, the game would know loco has to be at one end, cab car at the other, so it would only ask you about the number of cars between them. These simple options should make the majority of people satisfied, while also being relatively secure and not breaking the game.
It’s a sensible compromise and hopefully they can implement something similar. This along with livery editor for preserved collection would open up a whole world of possibilities.
I'd like to see something like this make it into the game. The default consists are way too default and generic, so this feature proposed above would allow way more possibilities
Oakville is coming out tomorrow and we could definitely benefit from longer formations and preserved collection painting... of course in no specific way, the picture is totally unrelated.
I like your ideas. Even back in TSW I had always thought having the ability to make our own consist in the menu before we jump into the game would be a really great feature to the game and add a ton of possibilities for us. I was very happy to see the scenario editor added to TSW2 as I feel it’s potential to be a core part of TSW gameplay is huge. Once the preserved collection is completely released I hope we see some quality of life updates, and maybe even more unique points for us to place a train!
Great idea. We've seen it mentioned before and obviously it's on our wishlist. We're still on version 1 of the scenario planner at the moment, consist editing, sharing, weather control... all these kinds of things are on the table for version 2, and we'll confirm that spec as soon as it's locked down.
For the moment if you set the weather for a standard service and back out of the menu, that weather setting will carry over if you go and run your player made service. As a temporary work around for setting the weather for the scenario planner.
Can someone please explain to me what is dostos, I know it is some slang of the game but I would like to understand it
