So i want to try and get the PC version of TSW2 at least a little bit like the PS5 version for graphical quality...

I have an old mobo and cpu from 2012.. a good old 'SandyBridge' i5 2500k, OC'd to around 4.5gig,
8 gig ram, and a GTX 1060 6 GB gfx card... think its the GFX card that saves this system from the scrap heap... hell i'm still running windows 8 on it!

I know i need to play with the Nvidia settings to get things like the catenary lines to stop flashing.. the antialiasing stuff... i got it half decent with trainsim20xx, so might just copy the settings over to TSW2... unless someone has some good settings to use?

But i've always been 'annoyed' at the track draw distance,
the track, ballast etc coming into focus about 20 feet infront of the train.

So i've read that the draw/view distance can be changed by adding some settings to the engine.ini file.

but i cant find this file.

I have 'show hidden files' ticked in windows folder options,
but some people show screen shots of their 'TSW2/WindowsNoEditor' screen, and they have about 10+ .ini files, things like input, hardware, user settings etc.

I can't find a single .ini file anywhere in the TSW2 folder in steamapps/common.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

This is where you're going wrong - the engine.ini file isn't housed there, it's housed in your Documents library. For me the path is:
    C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

    nice one,

What a difference it's made, rapid transit was horrible, the whole track bed was a blur before,

Also added the 'motion blur' to permanent off in the .ini file, fed up of pressing F2 each time i start a drive.

Now to set up the nvidia stuff and get try and stop the catenary etc flashing as i move.

Of course, now i am wondering about more settings... maybe one to turn off this whole action points thing... i know i could just turn off 'notifications' but i am playing about with controllers and do find the 'power lever / brake lever at position 1/2/3' notifications handy to confirm it's received the signal from the controller, so i know where to put the notch in the notch wheel i then 3D print.

But i really don't care for the popup in the middle of the screen when i'm driving telling me i've just driven 422Km in the BR422, have a virtual medal...

Also, wondering if i can turn off the start up videos and stuff,
again as im playing with controllers i'm building, i need to keep starting and exiting TSW2, so having to click 4 or 5 times to get past the start up stuff is getting annoying.

I'm assuming you mean the videos that play when you boot the game, in which case go to this folder:
    upload_2022-2-9_15-18-51.png
and delete the video files in there - instead it'll just show a black screen for a second or so (it may depend on how fast your computer is) and then go to the first 'press any key to start' screen.

    cheers,
Got rid of the intro videos,

now to get rid of the 'nag screen' where it tells you 'never to try and recreate your sim activities on a real train'
but i think i may be asking too much now :D

Yeah I don't think you can remove it. It's a backside-covering exercise to ensure they don't get into trouble if someone plays TSW and then decides to do dangerous things re trains thinking it's OK. Racing games (like Wreckfest) have a similar warning.

yeah i kinda guessed it was 'lawyer speak'

daft thing is, there's a lot more involved in driving a train than is simulated, on TS20xx the Virtual Railroads Pro Line trains come close... ish,

i've still not found the 'free rundown' button in the TSW2 BR112,
it's a fairly important button, you have to press it to ensure the tap changer is on zero before operating the brakes or putting the control handle to zero or off.

    But i'm nitpicking now,

the graphical quality has been changed massively now i've added those few lines of text to the engine.ini file,
next will be to play with the sound levels so i can get the in cab sounds louder without having to drive with the cab doors open.

Just discovered 'ToolKit for TSW2' which might do this and more with mouse clicks,

that's if i can get it to start, it's complaining i'm 'missing the frameworks for .NET'
i've tried downloading all i can find, from NET core 3.1 to ,NET6.0, i have visual studio installed (needed that to get the railworks joystick .dll to work) and it's just not playing ball,

might be finally time to move on from windows 8 to 10, as i'm finding a few things that wont work on windows 8 nowadays (like my surround sound headphones.. they work great on the laptop on win 10)
