While the HST, Class 166 and Class 66 are all great trains to drive the GWE route is crying out for a Class 387 'Electrostar' EMU, the newest member of Great Western Railway fleet. This versatile unit, manufactured by Bombardier, is capable of speeds up to 110mph this unit would allow players a nice combination of commuter stopping services but with a unit capable of high speeds. All three trains currently packaged with the GWE are diesels and we are yet to see a UK electric train made for TSW thus making this unit an excellent choice. A number of interesting scenarios recreating real world events would be possible such as recovering a Class 387 that has lost power outside a station by utilising the existing Class 66.

While the GWE route in its current form is only fully electrified to Hayes and Harlington this would still be an adequate distance for it to travel. In fact, until recently these units operated a half hourly stopping service between Paddington and Hayes and Harlington. Alternatively, and in my opinion preferably, the line could be electrified as far as Reading as it is in real life in order for the unit to be able to travel longer distances and the train could be marketed as some sort of GWE enhancement pack. While this would obviously take longer and cost more money, it would a price worth paying for a more realistic experience.

Please make this become a reality DTG.

To be put quite bluntly I highly doubt this one is coming out any time soon. Maybe it will if they work on another electrostar for another route, but until then...

Based on the fact that GWE has been out for quite some time now, and this along with the ICEs are taking over the real GWML. You'd think at least some announcment would be made by now if there was something taking shape.

I honestly think that GWE needs to be developed more. There are so many things missing in it that need to be added. 387s, 220s, FGW liveries, 165s, working timetables.

Like in TS2018, they should just make Locos as well. It doesn't always have to be routes every time.

Totally agree. They haven't released a single standalone UK train addon for either GWE or WSR which is a shame.

I'd even be willing to pay for a simple FGW reskin for the HST or 166, just to get a bit more variety.

Acually GWR is beeing electrified and in TSW you can see this reflected. An Electrostar 387 DLC addition would be on the menu because it's a specific EMU to a specific already exisitng route and it's an excelent opportunity to expand something that exists already.
