I thought the Skyhook 158 for Fife circle was going to be a free add on. But I just saw someone say that it was going be be a pay wear item with the class 380. Can someone please tell me if it’s going to be a free update or an add on?
It was never going to be free to begin with. If it's a dlc and not listed as free on the roadmap, it's paid. The scotrail 158 has many differences from the emt version. The developers have to be paid somehow.
Essentially it's a reskin+. Sadly Fife Circle still not really appealing even if it gets a significant discount in the Steam sale next week, which will mean sadly it stays on the shelf.
what differences are there? the 170 is basically a southern 171 and not an accurate representation of a Scotrail example. If anyone is making a scotrail unit of any kind that you have to pay for it would need to be far more accurate.
It's in one of the roadmaps. Different exterior, seating arrangements, etc. there's a whole list of the differences
I think you'll find it's the other way around, 171s are essentially 170s, as the 170s existed first. The only difference between a 170 and 171 is that the 171 has Dellner couplings allowing it to be compatible/coupled with a Class 377 in an emergency. Also the 170 feautured in Fife Circle is an accurate representation of the later batch of 170/4s with the revised headlight clusters, just not the earlier examples of the 170/4 with the older style headlight clusters. Very much how the 377/1s in BML only feauture the revised type headlight clusters and do not feauture the older type of headlight clusters which early example 377/1s have. In real life their is a mix between the two, but in TSW all the 377/1s feauture the newer style of headlights. On the topic of the thread, why would a separate developer make a DLC for free? The Class 158 will be a modified ScotRail version which has taken them time and money to develop.
Not really it’s just a reskin, but we all know DTG and Co love to milk those for every penny. Not enough to make me buy FC until a big discount kicks in
Guess we have to see what the selling price will be and what discount (if any) for existing owners of the 158 on MML. Certainly £14.99 which now seems to be the pitch for "quality" train DLC would be too much IMHO. Maybe £7.99 to cover the reskin and interior refit plus timetable.
Just to point out, the interiors of the two trains are almost identical and the only major exterior difference is the plough on the Scotrail units. Not much work to do in the slightest. I don't even think the ScotRail ones have different engines, so really this pack is a reskin and timetable pack. Frequently trains that were in their own DLCs end up recycled in later routes, but I think this is the first time a train has done the process the other way around. If it was a Train Simulator mod, it would have been free.
The driving cab in the game is definitely a 171. There are significant differences in the cab of a 170 and 171. Fault lights are in different places for a start.
It's probably been taken from one of the subclasses of Class 170. If you watch the video on how they made the cab it's from a ScotRail unit they were allowed access too. I'm not an expert on every difference between the sub classes so someone on here maybe how to explain that?
Hi I just bought the Midland Mainline DLC and everything works fine apart from the class 158, it works fine in the class 158 introduction but the second I go into timetable mode or do a scenario whatever I do the number that displays what number throttle I’m on stays at red. This also happens with the Blackpool Branches class 08 on the WSR. I do not know if this is just me or if it’s an xbox thing but if someone knows the answer can you please help because I’ve spend almost £30 on something that half of it doesn’t work. Thanks in advance.

On the 158 click the red DRA button near the windscreen. Not sure for the 08. Edit: The 08 could be due to the WSR mkIs being vac braked.
Have you tried doing it like this, I don't have TSW4 on my Xbox. And try turning off all safety systems.
The Class 158 starts wirh DRA on by default, just twist the switch to turn off Red one in front of yer
No idea about the cabs, but the interior (assuming they're doing the Grammer IC3000 interior) for both liveries will be very similar with little to no new modelling required.
Good morning everyone, I merged two identical posts by the OP into one, but it looks like there was a third thread with almost the same title as the other two, but a different, more general topic. Firstly, olliecrabb#7097 please make sure to not post duplicate threads, if you do so on accident you can flag a Community Manager and we'll merge threads or close one of them, whatever you'd prefer. I accidentally merged the general and troubleshooting topic, when I wanted to do this with both troubleshooting topics, and I have no way of unmerging them, I'd like to apologise for this. To compensate I've moved everything into the general discussion area of our forums. Again, apologies for any confusion caused by this. Jan
Sorry, what happened was I put it on the general chat thread and about 3 minutes or so after I posted it I realised that there was a whole thread for troubleshooting and issues. I would’ve deleted the one I put on general chat, but I don’t know how (or even if you can) sorry for any confusion and it won’t happen again
Hiya, Thanks for the interest and discussion about the ScotRail Class 158. I can confirm that there have been a number of physical changes to the front end, cab controls and layout and a completely new passenger interior developed for this version of the train. 100% not just a colour change from the MML version by any stretch of the imagination. Trains can easily look the same to the untrained eye, but rarely is that ever actually the case.
Think it will be looked upon as; Special dlc for TSW4 Class 380 with FREE, yes we said FREE Class 158 in Scotrail livery only £19.99
They still both require a lot of time and effort to develop so why should it be free. It is still a business at the end of the day
Don’t understand what cab controls can be changed really. I can understand it not being free, but £19.99 is too steep for just a unit.
Because, as I said before, if this was for Train Simulator it would be free. The Major Wales HST Revamp Pack is free and has a greater amount of content compared to the 158 pack. More likely £12.99, which is about £7.99 more than it's really worth.
