I haven’t had chance to test them all, but the ones I’ve seen are fine.

I just had a look and Bakerloo works fine. Are you sure the interior lights were turned on?

i was of the opinion that they'd be automatically be on like some of the others. i know i can turn on the interior lights to the cab. i wasn't sure about the passenger's view though

I could be the mod, and the settings with the route are too much for your machine. You could always take the medium settings for NYT and put them in your Ultra setup, nothing to stop you doing that.

Weirdly I’ve always found that route to be really easy performance wise. I’m very aware that’s not the normal view of it though.

the Trenton route can be low fps
at certain spots certainly new york penn
    and with the full timetable
i counted over 12 trains at the station and had 20 to 30 fps
i can live with it since it is only at new york that fps is that low here on my pc

    else use the reduced timetable
then i get above 70 fps

Nothing to do with the mod, but since it's a thread about lighting, does anybody know where/what the light source for the 387 cab is? It seems to be well-lit even with the cab light, desk lights etc all off - certainly compared to most other (Electrostar) cabs at night.

I’ve been discussing this very thing with Bescot this morning. The lighting on all those electrostar cabs is completely messed up, they are far too bright all the time. I think it must be a materials issue but I will take another look at BML specifically and see if it can be tweaked a bit further.

It’s probably a good point to say I’m going to have to update the mod one more time. Something changed with the WCU2 which has caused an issue with volumetric fog meaning in certain circumstances it’s appearing in some of the cabs. There is also some other stuff which has led to me unlocking a bit of a door when it comes to the lighting and led to subtle but noticeable improvements across the board. I will explain more soon but hopefully I’ll be able to upload it within the next couple of days.

lol better a little fog in the cab then the usual full spray of washing a train
but yeah i always found it silly
same as parts of trees going through the train if those are too close to the track
    or the falling leaves sometimes

I’ve fixed the issue as it was being caused by something in this mod, but only after the latest update to the game. For some reason enabling temporal reprojection of volumetric fog causes all kinds of weird effects where it didn’t used to.

it's like you can't get a break. they need to hire you trust me. i wish dtg would work with modders even for once. because i'm almost sure this is giving you way more work than you should have

I’m very happy in my day job, don’t worry about that :cool:This is very much a hobby for me, nothing more

It’s not in any way their fault to be fair. It’s a change in a mod I made that caused the problem and it’s not for DTG to take that in to account. All that matters is it’s no longer a problem & all being well I’ll get the update out tomorrow.

that's the one thing I highly respect about you. you never complain. you're never arrogant. you're so meticulous with your mod that you want it to be perfect; all for free! I mean you take this hobby of yours very seriously always keeping us in mind, bearing in mind you have a life outside of this.
I wish more modders in other games were like you and I also wish DTG would hire you because you're doing way more than they do it seems. Thanks again!

You must be confusing me with someone else because I don’t have a Discord. I am on the TSC one but very rarely post anything not related to modding and even then I post very rarely about that. Until very recently I hadn’t looked at it for months.

    So, speaking of trolls…

    Morning all,

As promised v4.1.1 is now available on TSC

    TSW 4 | Lighting & Graphic Enhancement v4.1.1 - Train Sim Community

    Here is the changelog;

    v4.1.1

There are a number of reasons why I am compelled to update this again which are listed below. Barring any further changes to the game that cause a major problem with something in the mod this will be the last one for the GodMode.sav

    1) Something appeared to have changed in the WCU2 update which caused an issue with temporal reprojection of Volumetric Fog. This was causing light sources to appear that hadn't been seen previously and fog to penetrate the cab on a good number of trains. This is now fixed and was one of the main drivers for the update
    2) As I set up the text update for Sherman Hill (v4.0.1) I had struggled to make the route bright enough whilst retaining the more realistic overall picture. To remedy this I utilised a couple of commands that I'd used for just this purpose on the ToDv3 routes and it was transformative. This led me to try it out on some other ToDv4 routes and the results were so good I decided to go ahead and apply it to all of them. Obviously this then required all those routes to be re-tuned and that is now also in this update. The lighting should now be even better balanced, and the overly dark areas that we sometimes saw should largly be a thing of the past. The difference can be subtle at times but it is there, and it really makes the whole thing sit better than it ever has before
    3) Lastly, one of the people testing this found a really strange phenomenon on Blackpool - Preston that, under a certain combination of weather and time of day, caused the whole scene to go almost red. This is, in part to the unrealistic amount of red the engine portrays in the sky around dawn and dusk. To rectify that for version 4.0 I had had to remove almost all of the negative auto-exposure offset which I was never happy with. Although it look good generally, I happened to play a service under cloudy and rainy conditions and the whole scene was so bright I had to go back and look at it again. Utilising the new technique mentioned above this route now looks as good as it ever did and I'm much happier with it as a result
    4) A couple of other minor tweaks here and there as a result of changes made in WCU2
    5) This now includes Sherman Hill as part of the pre-set

To illustrate the problem found in point 3, here is a screen shot of Blackpool from a testing version of v4.0. To be clear this is a very specific combination of weather and time of day. If you alter the time by 5-10 minutes, or the amount of cloud or the date itself it no longer looks so red.

and how the same scene looks in v4.1.1

    Hi JetWash,

Thanks so much for this excellent mod (been using it for a while). Unfortunately the latest version seems to clash with the excellent VR plugin.

When using your mod with VR, the right eye seems to put lots of strange shadow grey textures over things such as the cab instruments. I removed your .sav file just to ensure that the lates godmode wasn't the culprit, but that runs fine.

Any ideas what this could be?

I am such a fan of both your mod and VR

I’m a bit stumped, because there’s nothing in the latest one that is anything other than changes to gamma settings and light levels. I have removed the line regarding temporal reprojection of Volumetric fog but all that will do is revert to the default setting.

Have you added the line regarding volumetric cloud ground contribution to the main engine.ini file as per the manual? Beyond that I’m struggling to think what it might be.

I had the same problem after updating my mods to the newest TSW4 version. I found out that the cause not was this excellent mod - but the newest version of god mod. I reverted to an earlier one - and everything works fine again, including this fantastic mod

After I installed the latest God mod, BCC causes the game to freeze when you try to start a service. No other route seems to have this issue. I uninstalled the god mod and BCC works fine again. I reverted back to the one had earlier dated in July 23. BCC opens fine, but I am noting tearing in lineside fencing.
Jetwash, think the issue is with god mod not your lighting mod.

Weird thing is that the old god mode wasn’t working (which lead me to download the new one).

I also removed the .sav file (ultra preset) and just ran the new god mode on its own and it was fine.

It was not the .sav, but the god mod itself. I never had any problems with that older version, only the newest one wasn’t working. For me, it fixed the problems that were mentioned above. As for the .sav, I’m using the newest version.

    Just tried some trouble shooting:.

    Everything looks fine in 2D

With the latest Godmode without adding JetWashe;s excellent .sav files evertthing woks fine in VR (albeit without any of the fantastic colour corrections)

Adding the Ultra or Medium presets causes the right eye to have a really weird shadow artefact. As you look around, most of the right eye has a dark grey area which makes all the gauges go grey. If you move your head around you can bring the gauges back at times. It seems to be linked to shadows (but I could be wrong). The left eye is perfect.

Someone mentioned running an older version of godmode, but I can't see anywhere to download the 0.5.0. Having said that, I was running 0.5.0 before upgrading yesterday and this didn't seem to be working anymore (I couldn't access any of the menus by moving the mouse to the top of the screen).

I am a bit stumped. I can either run VR with terrible display settings, or run non VR with great display settings!

Is anyone able to run Godmode 0.5.1 with v4.1.1 in VR without issues (jus so that I know that the problem is at my end).

ps. Jetwash, I added the lines into my engine file (teach me not to RTFM), but this also did not help.

Thanks again for this fantastic mod, and all your time!

    to get VR working maybe
the only thing i can say is
if you know how to remove certain lines in the godmode with Jetwash mod active
you might be able to find the line or lines that causes it
if you suspect shadows start there

Thanks for the infos. The frosted windows isn't from this mod (as I removed this mod and it still happened).

I had the same Idea as you about removing individual lines to test it. I removed all the shadow lines, but this did not help.

Biggest problem is that you can't access the godmode menus from within VR, so you have to restart the game every time you want to alter a line. I'll keep trying though

Took a while, but I found the culprit (and sod's law says it had to be right near the bottom of the list).

    r.GTAO.SpatialFilter=0

Is the one line which causes this issue. No idea what it does, might do some googling.

Removing it solves the VR issues!

I'm having a really serious problem with the -dx12 launch option since I started playing TSW3 in March 2023. Here's how it behaves:

    DX11:
    • Always a steady 33-36fps in all situations (heavy/light)
    • Large amount of of stutters & freezes
    • These stutters last 3-5 seconds and occur every 10-15 seconds... as well as a sprinkling of many short ones

    DX12:
    • When I'm on a clear open line or unpopulated area: 56-60fps
    • If even a single train approaches in the opposite direction, or I'm approaching a station: 8-13fps until I am completely past the station/train.
    • Even random parts of the track cause an FPS drop to 8-12fps.
    • Almost no stutters or freezes

    Notes:
    • Happens regardless of whether I use GodMode + TSW4 Lighting Enhancement by Jetwash
    • Happens even if I use the free camera to move to the 12fps areas
    • Happened since TSW3, continues to behave the exact same in TSW4
    • Dropping all settings to low + using the low preset of this mod + restarting game makes NO difference
    • The only time I've managed to "tickle" this issue is by dropping the res from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 - somehow that just removed this issue entirely (yes, on DX12 w/ this mod) and i maintained a steady 45-50fps. However, the issue returned after a re-launch, and its only ever worked on London Commuter
    • If its not 12fps drop (London Commuter w/ Mods, or Blackpool Branches), its a 21fps drop (ECML)
    • When this 12fps issue happens: CPU 12%, GPU 4-5% (!), RAM 8GB or so
    • System specs: Asus Zephyrus G15 2021 GA503QM, R7 5800HS, RTX 3060M Max-Q, 40GB RAM, game on internal NVMe SSD
    • No it is NOT my system's fault in any way, shape or form. Clearly it's a game problem at this point. Temps fine, drivers latest (clean installed with DDU + removed shader cache with cleanmgr), have also let plenty of time for shader cache to generate (i.e, many passenger/driver runs and NOT clean installing drivers), can play almost every other modern game with no issues, examples including GTA 5 almost maxed out at 80-110fps, Hogwarts Legacy medium/high at 60-70fps. I'm quite tech savvy and know how to maintain my own system properly.
    • When switching between dx11/dx12, I never switched out my Medium preset that I usually use for the Low preset, as instructed in the manual. Despite this the game still loads fine, even if the lighting looks worse now (for some reason its WAY warmer in DX11 than DX12)

Ideally I'd like to get to the bottom of this, as nobody else seems to have reported such issues with DX12 to my knowledge. It would be nice to get more FPS and better lighting but without this stupid issue. Any sort of logs I can provide or tips are much appreciated.
