Oh boy Rivet Games... How did you screw up such a highly anticipated route... The scenery looks absolutely horrendous and West Cornwall Local vibes. Really Rivet I thought you guys improved... Berninaline was a banger.. but Fife Circle is just straight up Awful... Lots of untextured buildings... Lack of folliage detail across the route... This looks like the modern Day disaster known as west Cornwall... Guys... I've think we now have an EVEN worse route than NYT The timetable is dead... New York to Trenton Levels of dead.. and the announcements don't even work ffs... The community was really looking forward to this... Rivet Games.... Do us all a favor and take a long hard look at yourselves... How could you guys even think this was acceptable to show off
we should boycott rivet at this point they have been doing this for years and people still support the [EDIT - Jan - Insulting]
Whilst fife circle is absolutely shambolic, boycotting isn't a bright idea, as it doesn't benefit anyone
I actually had high hopes for this but WOW this is [EDIT - Jan - Language] pathetic, excuse my french but I need to vent.
It’s the end of the financial year isn’t it? Why are we surprised. I’m probably cancelling my pre-order after seeing this.
Dismal dlc. Can’t even get the right build with features that were meant to be showcased. Timetable poor, virtually no AI services, graphics look poor, graffiti on the bridge looks stuck on…
I refunded my preorder. Fife Circle looks like literal railway rubbish compared to Goblin and Salzburg that released recently. Also, Rivet’s butchering of timetables continues. The only bright spot is the 170, but I’m not spending $40 to have a 170. I’ll save my money for Semmeringbahn.
It may have the effect of getting Rivet to ‘up their game’ or at the very least get DTG asking questions
After Bernina Line I was really looking forward to this. I expected stunning DEM scenery, busy timetable, automatic announcements and a train we’ve all been looking forward to. Instead It looks like a [EDIT - Jan - Language] Arosa Line. What are they thinking? It needs delaying and sorting out. I’ve supported Rivet in the past, and felt some of the criticism was unwarranted but this is beyond the pale.
I agree however too late i'm afraid, Console versions will have already been sent out. Best we can hope for is a post release patch.
That’s the other issue, and where criticism of Rivet is very fair. Their post-release support is almost non-existent, so I would hope for the best but expect nothing.
I’ve been playing TSW and following its development since the early days of the CSX Heavy Haul beta. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more disastrous preview stream in that time frame. This route looks like an early alpha with floating trees, untextured buildings, and a barren timetable. I mean look at this. Train Sim Classic routes from 10 years ago look better!
I haven't watched the stream yet, but it looks like I'll be saving money and keep enjoying the DTG TSC version by the old masters of route building Stuart Galbraith, Steve Potter and Dan Barnett which is a fine DLC, including the Class 68, 158, 170 and the A4. Very disappointed - I thought Bernina was a breakthrough.
The main reason i wanted this route was because of the announcements. But they loaded the wrong build and could not showcase it. And the sound in the cab of the 170 is like non existing. Bernina was indeed a good route but this is not good. And DTG should have implemented announcements in the Goblin. Now i am not buying the 2 routes i was looking forward to. Im starting to lose interest in TSW after years of being a loyal customer, to be honest. I will wait for Tramsim city transport sim.
I guess the Suffragette Line is now better value than this route. This is a shame because I really did enjoy Rivet's routes in TSC but in TSW, they have released products that have had issues or have been outright terrible. My expectations were already low given the issues I had with Edinburgh-Glasgow so I should hardly be suprised.
Sorry to post this here - but I'm glad we have two sims to choose from. I don't need the TSW version.
Haha, I’m so glad that I didn’t allow myself to get even remotely excited for this route. fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me, fool me thrice? Yeah not falling for that one again mate.
TSC Fife Circle is a really fantastic route - with the 170, 158, 68 and 'Union of South Africa' [cic] - all included. The full route is there and I'm sure the Levenmouth line will appear on the workshop somewhere. I'll give the rivet effort a chance (mainly just to see if this was an old build or not) - if not I'll be (digitally?) dusting off TSC to remind myself of what I already own.
Please DTG talk to Rivet and make them postpone the DLC for 2 months or so and let them properly rework it. Show them the brilliant Suffragette Line and the great Blackpool-Ormskirk and let Rivet know what a 2024 TSW DLC looks like... The current version is just disastrous and that falls back on you...
The timetable alone (or the lack of one here) is the difference between me purchasing this route or not.. even for rivet this sparse timetable is an insult to this route, can't actually believe this is what is about to be released
Yup, I’m sure many would chew their own arm off if Rivet were to use AP’s pack, but that’s even quieter (although it does have the traction hum under power).
They don't have traction motors. But i get your point. Though you can hear what goes on in the cab from the saloon, you can seldom hear the saloon/engine from the cab, the Aircon is loud in the cabs. Plus when the cab heater is blowing too its nuts.
I am shocked, looks like the very first routes for tsw. Nothing like any of the newer routes. Rivet really need to work on this, or even DTG should get involved as it's harming dtgs reputation.
Basically, it's exactly what I expected. The TS version is £9 right now and I'm not sure what good reason there is for buying the TSW version instead of it. Assuming I understood your later post correctly, the correction for this would be "it doesn't benefit you." I myself work on TSW routes and know that getting less money from a profit share agreement is not very nice, but you must understand that the people buying these routes aren't doing it to give money to the developers, they're doing it because the product is worth buying on its own. As far as the Train Simulator version is concerned it does have a number of issues with it, but there's a patch for it (I have no connection to the route so I'm not really bothered, but at least the patch is there). The stock variety is nice but the 170, 158 and A4 are terrible. The DTG 68 is surprisingly good, although obviously the AP one is superior. Is the TSC version overall a better route? Well, unless Rivet work non-stop to significantly upgrade the scenery and fix the sounds on the 170, yes. Correction - worse than the very first routes. CSX Heavy Haul, GWE and Ruhr-Sieg Nord had some great scenery, and few routes since have matched them.
Haven't watched the preview yet but don't think i've ever seen this negative of a reaction to a DLC. Maybe DTG will decide to hold it back like they did with WCL? Though that didn't even make for much improvement. Disappointing to say the least. I guess back to Suffragette, Salzburg, and BPO for the time being. Bernina is good! No excuse for the low effort product when we've seen what is possible.
hmm I think GWE is a bit questionable for scenery status, the stations are pretty great but general scenery is definitely behind. RSN I think was better than MSB in terms of scenery though.
Embarrassing to say the least. Didn't pre-order and have decided to put the card back in the wallet. How did JT, on their first TSW route, hit a home run in every area, and then we get this from a 'seasoned' TSW developer. I'm not blaming DTG, but I think this shows an urgent requirement for some quality control before streaming live and untested going forward. They should be doing offline runthroughts the day or the morning before putting on YouTube. If I was the EP, I think id be making a phone call first thing tomorrow. Delaying the release is the right thing to do. They have only just released the Goblin route, so bar financial year end, they have no reason to get this out the week after, to keep the masses happy. This is the exact reason I didn't post anything when the peak forest update and 104 was delayed. Alex keeps saying we want things to be the best they can be before release and thats why things change.......this one here is a perfect example, it needs a few more weeks in the oven.
they did what TSG does aswell and put a lot of quality over deadline into it, it’s important to note JT spent time learning the tools first rather than a fire and forget, not only was that right in many ways it also meant after updates needed are kept low, rather than when rushed the after updates needed is more.
GWE is very exact on scenery, the countryside between West Drayton and Reading is well modelled with the right sort of trees and field patterns and coming into reading all the buildings are very accurate, it's a good route really.
no doubt it has parts what are really well modelled, but I have definitely seen parts what are rather underdone, the route does show its age through scenery, it took DTG a while to get that improved but they seem to be making great progress in that area.
Yes it feels it's age i agree but it certainly is one of my top 10 for driving pleasure and realism, like i said there isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the route(and in terms of scenery much of the route is pretty bland in real life)
Thing is NYT is actually decent now since all the updates, pretty complete timetable minus the freight, but I don’t think they’re gonna go back and improve this once it’s out unless you make A TON of noise on the forums edit: just seeing rivet doesn’t have a good rep with post release patches. Well, time to cancel your preorders cause they likely won’t touch this again after release most likely..
