Enough Is Enough Thomas And Friends Edition

This is actually insanity this is the worst announcement I have ever seen!! Is this why WSR was remastered? We waited 20 days just for this! Its not even a route, just a few locos and a coach! This is the most shameful cash grab I have seen in years from this company. We wait 20 days for a massively hyped up announcement and it is more disappointment. The only announcement we had heard nothing of prior, and this is it.

Hahaha yoooo they must be having quite a laugh at DTG HQ right now.

They absolutely knew how much their fanbase was gonna flip their lids over this, and still edged them on for TWO WEEKS before the reveal!!

Its a bloody joke, I am still refreshing my youtube waiting for them to say it's a joke. Disbelief, utter disbelief.

I think this says a lot (and none of it good) about DTG's direction.

 

Why is there so much hostility on this? It’s a fun addition. Why does everything have to be so serious all the time?
In the teaser it was said it’s going to add a story mode or campaign of some sorts. I’m liking this idea and so will my son once I show him.

 

Have we time travelled to April 1st? What a stupid reveal, it’s clear that this “simulator” is nothing more than a game, heck this should’ve been the Roblox doc a game which is for kids, tsw is not a kids game, what a joke of a reveal, this has been like a really bad movie you’d see online promising start and a fair bit of action, but then a really bad climax

 

I actually think it is very funny. There has been plenty of serious content announced, it is not like this is the only thing. I probably wont pick it up until it is on a big sale, but I suspect I will find it amusing when I do even if it is just for an hour

 

Because it’s a “realistic and authentic rail simulator” not a kiddies game

I think it's great. Kids will love it, families will enjoy it. No one has to buy it if they don't want to. It's fun.

Honestly it’s been an awful few months for DTG.

 

The big issue with this is that DTG’s PR department haven’t read the room. If this was a pre roadmap press release they wouldn’t be getting this reaction, we’d have said it’s fun but not my thing. It’s the fact they’ve hyped this up to the player base after previews and reveals of new routes that’s the problem.

 

If it had been the 4th or 5th reveal it would have been received quite well i bet.

They left it for last to purposely anger the fanbase- there's no other explanation i can see.

They know trainsim people by and large are VERY serious about their hobby and are not usually....let's say... receptive to poking fun at themselves.

And they did it anyway lmao

 

It stopped being a simulator a long time ago. Its a video game. End of.

 

Then don't buy it. Simple really.

Simulators are a genre of video games and no, we have more features now then in the past

 

this exactly! i feel like the season of reveals should be for new routes/locos/dlcs specific to TSW, and any other title should have their own release.

Haven’t they just released a Roblox sort of TSW? This seems like the sort of content which would fit that demographic better.

The writing has been on the wall for a while for what TSW is all about, so I certainly wasn’t expecting some big flashy route or brand new freight loco etc, but man, they really mishandled the way they announced this.

I’m not even going to get started on the borderline offensive nature of dev time being wasted on this when TSW5 is in various states of disrepair in multiple areas. Even if they just had to focus on payware, we’ve had several releases already, with more to come that are in dire need of alternate ToCs/rolling stock to replace their shoehorned alternate reality timetables.

No new UK freight loco, New German routes being specifically placed in a period of time where we get to use the near decade old dosto assets, lack of licensing all over the place, lack of varying ToC’s & DTG decide to use the loco artists and licensing teams to come up with Thomas the Tank Engine.

DTG literally releases £60+ of steam content, promises us a list of improvements for it. Drops it & says sorry we can’t make it work. A year later they come back with Thomas the Tank Engine??

I thought that DTG had pulled the plug on steam?. Just think, instead of this twaddle, they could have revealed a fix to steam physics, and shewn a nice Black 5, 9F, Standard 5, et al.

Why do DTG staff not come and answer feedback, or criticism. We know that they do frequent this forum, it's theirs, after all.<shaked head in dismay>

 

Bad that they revealed the bonus part yesterday, would be much better to see it today after… todays reveal

Not to mention that the "season of reveals" ended up revealing nothing except the london route, which I am excited for. Everything else we already knew about.

 

could you imagine if your favourite football team made all these signings during the transfer window and then on deadline day they hyped up a grand announcement and it was kermit the frog? of course people are outraged

 

Well they aren't making any improvements to the core code or simulation. Steam development is stopped on that end.

The problem is that so much of the existing stuff is quite plainly broken, and would have perhaps been a better use of their time fixing the multitude of problems highlighted in the Feedback forums.

 

To be fair, the metrolink train was new I think, but yeah, meh overall
