Okay, so I took the plunge and decided to pick up the special edition. The price it was going for was an absolute steal, so I thought why the heck not. Anyone interested in the deal. Here’s a link: https://www.loaded.com/train-sim-world-6-special-edition-pc-steam Anyways back to my question. As a noobie in the TSW PC scene I am wondering what are the essential mods I should be installing, also what web-sites I should be visiting? I’ve never ventured on this side of the water before as I’m primarily a console player (PS5 Pro). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Here's a few of the mods I'd recommend as will others: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c75-utilities/i2703-tsw-god-mode-alpha-064 https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...9-patches/i4090-tsw5-train-lighting-lod-fixes https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...6-lighting-visual-quality-enhancement-v-tsw60 https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c19-patches/i2789-better-rain-v2-tsw6 There's definitely plenty more good mods to download and use.
The trainsimcommunity.com site is the prime source for mods. If you start using mods, I strongly recommend TSW Mod Manager - I believe it can be found in the Utilities section of the above site.
Agree on all of those. My other 'baseline' mods: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c75-utilities/i6822-tsw-addon-manager (useful for loading in specific mods for specific routes before starting the game). https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...4445-tsw6-uk-content-ballast-enhancement-pack https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...m-world-6-improved-signal-visuals-and-colours (works for most UK routes, there are others for some individual routes) https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...i726-tsw5-new-in-cab-wind-rain-thunder-sounds https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...patches/i3745-uk-rolling-stock-orange-pis-fix
One tip I'll give you from experience is that sometimes mods clash with other mods, even if for different routes, and sometimes too many mods at once cause issues. I have a core set of baseline mods that always load in, then I use Addon Manager to load in enhancement packs timetables etc. for specific routes.
There’s a lot to digest here. I think I’ll try the basic mods first, god mode etc then go from there. I do like the sound of weather app and shadow improvements. They definitely sound like a must have. Thanks guys.
The TSW route & annotations is a must for prototypical weather patterns. I consider it an overlay more than a mod since it relies on the httpapi parameter through steam. There are so many good mods out there for sounds, and patches from train sim community. I am currently running without mods but a few I can vouch for are NEC enhancement pack UK Ballast enhancement pack WCMLS 2019 timetable enhancement pack Improved UK signal visuals
Can i also recommend, if you havent already, making amendments to your own engine.ini file too. It opens up the base game to being something incredible, such as removing pop-ins, increasing shadow distance, adding lens flare, a proper free roam camera, and so many quality of life improvements. Best of luck mate, you are gonna love it.
In my opinion. Currently the only essential mods are: Godmode: Should not even be a debate. Without this mod I can't imagine playing TSW. You have so much more control over the look of the game and can make it look 10 times better. Also you can easily fix broken FOVs on some locos. The mod that removes the Route Hopping markers in the 3D world: Nothing is more immersion breaking then arriving at your final station just to see some huge blue glowing orb at the platform right next to you. No thanks DTG!
Ooooh, where can I find that Route Hopping remover mod? That's something I've been wanting since the day that marker arrived! I remember Matt saying it's something they were going to remove as it's easy to do, but as I said in another thread elsewhere Matt says a lot of things
[*something they were going to*] yeah of course. So we know they will most likely never do it and have already forgotten about it. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...d/c19-patches/i5923-hide-route-hopping-marker
