I would like to have the information about Estimated Time of Arrival. So we now have the time when the train should arrive at the station and also we have the info about current time. But we don't have the information about the time at which the train is expected to arrive at the destination taking into account current speed at which the train currently is going.

This will not work in TSW, as TSW doesn't know how far away you are, in rail miles/kms, from your objective/destination. During the simulation, it only knows how far away you are in helicopter miles/kms.

Thanks for the replay. So the game dosn't know the distance from the station or other objective. So it just knows the distance like the straight line from point a to b regardless of it actually differs from that. So is it the correct way of measuring the distance in railway? Or is it just that TSW measures the distanve that way?

It’s not the correct way, just a TSW thing. It’ll be because it’s using the default distance measure in the game engine, which is great for walking, running first person games. The distance is always from the player not the train, probably due to the fact that as a player you can get out of the train and walk around, and if they were to have distance from the train, down the track, that would mean having to have two distance models programmed in the game, one for walking and one for the front of the train. It’s an odd quirk and makes the distance quoted useless when you are reversing a train and the distance to the next station just a poor approximation.

Ok thanks. So if I undetstand correctly when we are driving the train the game engine measures it as if we are walking toward that destination, not as driving on tracks.

Yes, walking in a perfect straight line.

Yes - with a few very odd exceptions. If a route, which is made from "tiles" includes a "portal" to a map tile that is say, actually vertically above or below where you are (when they built the route), then the distance measured to an objective might report as 500m (upwards - directly above your ahead, or below your feet), when the actual rail distance is 20,000m.

But if you can find where this happens, put your answer on a postcard, and I will send you a prize.... you would have to really look for it though... ;-)

Ok thanks. I should than create a separate suggestion. It would be to add the feature so we could be able to see the distance in terms of rail metres not tile metres. :)
