Hi guys I’ve just come back from Paris on the Eurostar and it was a great journey, it made me think why is this not on train sim yet and are there any plans to make? We already have some of the line for the SE high speed, could this be extended through the euro tunnel to paris, Brussels and Amsterdam? Thoughts please
From what I've heard, Eurostar will not allow there licence to be used in a simulator/game unfortunately.
platform to platform is around 35 minutes the tunnel will be closer to 25 minutes edit: at 99mph or 160kmh
This would be the worse route humanly possible - the euro tunnel is 30 MINUTES LONG, half the length of a regular service. That's not fun. I have the TSC version and it isn't fun atall. If we ever got the eurostar (which we wont) I'd rather on a lille-paris route or any high speed route in Belgium/Netherlands.
Eurostar is quite a pain in the arse to give a licence and they’re currently busy with their fusion with Thalys as they acquired that brand. Just to prove you they’re hard to obtain, some models were made without Eurostar’s consent ( which I don’t agree to be clear with anyone ) like TGV pack from La France En Trains for Trainz series. The entire line is around 340 kms with the channel section being travelled at 160 kph for 30 minutes, trust me I’ve been a lot of time on the cab and it’s really annoying if it’s recreated on TSW which is not likely to happens thankfully.
I soon got bored going through the tunnels out of St Pancras to Stratford International, the Channel tunnel would be a complete borefest!
it probably would feel like a drag sometimes, but if people didn’t want it then it wouldn’t be called for, lack of calls for Eurostar just isn’t a thing. I wouldn’t call Kassel wurzburg a boring route neither, it’s up their as one of my favourites, it answers the call for high speed & long distance what doesn’t just last about 20 minutes.
Just to give some context, Sam said they once considered doing the Eurotunnel. Before doing anything else, they made an internal test of a 25min ride on a tunnel just to see how it feels. The result was that it is extremely boring and for sure not something most people would want to do multiple times.
I would like to see one day the Class 373 but not the Eurotunnel. The train itself is really interesting but the route is not
I dont think Eurostar is a attractive Route option for DTG. Especially after the feedback from players about Kassel-Würzburg. What you would get basically would be a similar experience, but its Tunnel all the way and its superbly short aswell (at least if its just the Tunnel section). I personally like SKW unlike most players, but can absolutely understand that it is a too boring experience for lots of players. So from a developer and publisher perspective it doesn't sound lucrative. But there are great Highspeed, "long run" Routes out there that dont run in tunnels all the time, so there's definitely potential.
I already hate Kassel because of all the tunnels. I don't think I'm interested in buying a route that lets me stare for 30 min into blackness without almost any interaction . My Apple TV has way nicer screensavers.
Much as the you're intrigues me I go into a mild coma driving out of new York Penn tunnel. Let alone a load more.. I mean what would you do. It's like bakerloo without stops or curves
It won't happen as: A. The route is far too long for DTG to recreate in TSW. B. Even if the route were segmented and the tunnel left out, the 30-minute section of LGV Nord between Calais-Fréthun and Lille-Europe is also dull. Hardly any traffic or anything to see. That being said, driving the ICE 3M at linespeed on SEHS feels different. The extra 46 mph over what the Class 395 can achieve is noticeable. james#3957 Use these 2 mods to get the e320 experience: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...-locomotives/i624-eurostar-e320-ice-3m-livery https://creatorsclub.dovetailgames.com/mods/89281 Lille to Brussels-Midi or Paris-Nord could be somewhat interesting as you eventually interact with local traffic. Though the realist in me says there's unlikely to be demand for these hi-speed routes as DLC.
I think I would support a good route with the euro tunnel, if I can handle the slow speeds of American freight (Clinchfield for example) then 20 minutes ish at 99mph wouldn’t be that bad. Personally I’ve always thought slow speeds to be harder to concentrate and connect with the route than scenery change over sometime. personally; slow dark run at 15mph = painful Fast 20 minute run not a great deal to see + other parts of the route = not too bad don’t think I’d completely do service after service continuously but would go back to it often, especially with the kind of stock that fits the route
That's fair honestly - I just hope dtg pumps out something better then the AHS route for TSC. Heck I'd be fine with only a 373 and eurotunnel freight locomotive for this route aslong as it's well made.
The Chunnel is actually quite curvy and a bit up and down, too, although (with 100mph rather than 25mph speed restrictions) the curves are a lot more gentle than the Bakerloo. No stopping, except in case of breakdown or emergency (when you might need to break the train into two halves).
Maybe a Class 373 running on the ECML if that comes in the future - I think it would be OK to backdate the stock to GNER times, as we can implement the HST and 313 from the 314 (although we have the 314 but is there a massive difference between the two? Not very knowledgable), 91 and 317 at a later date as well. Gives a good excuse to run the 373 on British rails instead of HS1 and Eurotunnel.
Just took Eurostar from Amsterdam to London and back this June. Not a super interesting run. Took Thalys Paris to Amsterdam years ago, that might be a good run. That's really long for this game engine though, I believe. Now some local trains from Amsterdam Centraal, that would be a blast! So many interesting types of trains, varied tracks, relatively interesting scenery even if flat. Opinions welcome https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/amsterdam-schiphol-airport-amersfoort-lelystad.25095/ and any other proposed NS lines!
That would only work if it was set in like 2014...? I think? When the Eurostar services stopped at Ashford International. Plus you'd have to have the trains without the Eurostar logos because of licencing.
Run the Javelin on Bakerloo for some good entertainment, though not as good as ripping the giant yank freight loco through the tunnels
