That’s one of the reasons I haven’t bought the Class 86 yet. It adds many more vehicles and therefore textures to the mix, increasing the chances of the blurring.

That's because it's a core issue that affects everything. The issue needs to be eradicated and on the Discord Q&A Matt said that "This issue will not stay like this and it will be fixed" so lets see if that actually happens. I haven't played the game in a while because of it

Well what else are they going to say?

They have to keep console players spending.

Very unlikely this will be fixed before big tech changes.

As I understand it, the low quality textures are used when there is not enough memory to use the higher quality ones. My guess is that if they reduce the threshold to switch to low quality textures they will increase the chances to get an out of memory game crash.

I cant see a solution for this. Maybe they could use lower quality textures on buildings or other scenery in exchange for higher quality on the trains?

    They key potential fixes are:
    - How long textures have to stay in the texture pool
    - Any textures that shouldn't be there
    - Whether some textures are overly detailed given the distance the player will look at them from

However, the challenge is to address this without creating new problems such as bad hitching from having to load back a texture when it's needed again.

It is curious how it's a much more persistent issue on XBox Series X compared to PS5 when both in theory have the same amount of RAM. With PS5 it only seems to happen with routes that have had the most notorious issues (Mildmay when you have all layers enabled and Birmingham-Crewe when you have most layers).

Yes, but keep in mind that those are console only problems. An average PC can usually keep most of the textures it loads and they reduce the load times (and reduce stuttering) as you play. The challenge would be to make an automated process that converts what is working as expected for PC to something that works better for consoles.

Apparently from one of the recent Q&As part of the issue is when AI trains load in they use the texture pool as you see them but as they continue off out of sight they keep using the texture pool. So busier routes will have this issue more because more of the texture pool is used up.

The PS5 has better ram, the Xbox has 2 sets of ram performance with only 10GB’s of it being on par/slightly faster than the PS5, but the remaining 6GB’s is significantly worse.

Then there’s the PS5 pro which widens the gap even more.

Then it means they need to put actual effort into optimising for console instead of doing what they do for PC - hope that the user has enough RAM to brute force it

Did a run yesterday on PS5 with no issues. That’s with nearly every layer.

On the pc I noticed that a lot of foliage is pretty heavy, even with standard settings, sometimes dropping fps by half. Near Meissen (Leipiz-Dresden dlc) there is a fps heavy area. Also on the wcml by justrains there are pretty heavy areas. Between Penrith and Carlisle.

Another example is the Antelope Valley near Via Princessa, there are lot of floating forests in the sky. hitting unnecessary the fps. Easy Fix I think.

I tested this by using god mode mod, just turning off and on the foliage, what difference.

I've not seen any blurry textures either and I'm on Series S. I have all my TSW and TSW2 routes on TSW5 and TSW3 routes and onward on TSW6, so maybe that's helping. I'm also not having all routes, so it's interesting what exactly causes those issues.

I recently did a few runs around Cologne-Aachen. I installed the TOD4 lighting mod. And I'm getting 100-120 FPS with occasional dips to 60 FPS. The vegetation looks a little dated compared to the latest routes, but the FPS is pleasing.

My avarage Fps is 60, but on a few spots it drops to 30Fps. On weird places with only a few tracks or trains. The drop in Fps is in my case caused by some of the foliage. But on other routes, like Mittenwald with dense forests the problem is less severe.

It does seem that us 'Xboxers' are the most impacted unfortunately.

    I have all the layers.
