I have a question about the Class 66 liveries. The DBS red livery is the most current one and not the EWS but we have not got a new Class 66 with the DBS livery since 2017, only the old GWE version has it. Why are DTG only using the EWS and not DBS anymore? Licencing issue?
Most of the old EWS 66 stock now have the EWS lettering and crest blanked out and a small red DB logo on the front and side. Identical in all other aspects to the point that even a blind graphic designer could update it in less than 30 seconds. They still went with the old fully branded EWS variant for the ECML for some reason though. Even the old red DB Schenker livery (as used on GWE) is the same now but with a larger DB logo on the side and the schenker lettering removed now, so easy to update if they so wished. They claim to have an excellent relationship with DB so I doubt licencing is an issue but I will leave the exact reasons to your own individual judgement...
I'd be quite happy if they could replace the liveries on the EWS Class 66 from SEHS, ECML etc. to these other variants. At least it means we won't get as many duplications and gives more of a purpose to substituting different Class 66 liveries between routes. Also note that 66587 from the Engineering Express pack is really a freightliner loco as well as being a different subclass (even if there's still has EWS branding in the cab as others have pointed out) - so really there's no reason not to make something like a DRS Class 66/4 in the future, or with other freight companies should those licenses be acquired.
Would be nice if we just had 1 Class 66 instead of around 7 of the things. Just upgrade all the older Class 66s to the latest one, and give us a livery select option before starting each game. Same with the BR185, BR182, BR363....
