Thank the steam lord baby Thomas you said that. I thought I was losing my mind constantly clicking R3 and the bloody camera view wouldn't change!!
With the second control option (not classic). Has anyone noticed you can stop the camera by pressing X or square on the PS5 controller? I assume it works both ways for the Xbox controller too by pressing A and X. One of these buttons could be easily changed to give us the fast external camera option. I have mentioned this multiple times in streams before and it always gets ignored. I also made a post about this a couple of months back too.
The problem with that is that Dovetail chose a control scheme that allows for controlling the loco from external cameras. Those two controls have functions, even in the external camera. Square swaps the currently selected brake for L1/L2 and Cross selects things even in external cams (can open doors, switch junctions, couple vehicles). I think there is very little good options left for them as they have used a lot of keys and key combos already and there are people having issues with those. I don't have many better solutions I'm afraid, I'm hoping that we will get the controller mapping to map the controller the way we see fit and most useful at some point, but it's looking to be for TSW5 or beyond at this point. Maybe triangle? Since that stands you up from the in-cab view it might not be used for external camera. Previously in classic controls it changed your control type from driver/camera. It could work as a toggle too.
It’s X (PS5) and A (Xbox) then. I’m 100% certain that these buttons don’t conflict with the train controls in anyway, it just stops the camera moving. Yes the square/X buttons would definitely change the brake types though.
We had the same functions in TSW3 in external view. But we could move the camera quickly by pressing L3. I think the developers forgot that funktion simply. I hope the explanation is not the memory thing again.
In Classic controller you had to pick between controlling the loco and controlling the camera. So yes you could move the camera quickly but then you couldn't zoom at all and there would be a bunch of other functions that would only work manually switching them or using keyboard shortcuts. I prefer classic controls as that was the original control layout and I got used to it but without the ability to zoom I can't use it. Zoom is way too handy useful and necessary to go back to classic controls.
Oh I see. I think you read my comment wrong. I was referring to the other camera option. Immersion I think it’s called. If you say what is true though about fast cam on classic camera, then I will have to give that a try. Thanks for the info
I tested it and I believe you're right, however I am not sure it is intentional. The controller layout still says hold L3 to speed up the camera so maybe it will return in a bug fix later. USB Keyboard pressing shift still works and is currently your only way to speed up the camera on PlayStation.
