and the siege is closing for 8th gen consoles... according to today's roadmap, F59PHR will be, like the gameplay packs, exclusive to 9th gen consoles and PC could it be that the time has come to forget about 8th gen and stop limiting the potential of tsw with these outdated hardware? I would like to know your thoughts about...
It seems like they're slowly phasing it out by not releasing any new add ons for gen8. Wouldn't be surprised if TSW6 is gen9 only.
Strange gen8 can't handle gameplay pack and this new loco, small things to download. Now i'm on PS5 from xmas so i can download this loco, but i was surprised gen8 cannot handle this
I think it is due to the growth of the timetable that will occur with this dlc and that occurred with the gameplay packs (especially the german one that affected the frankfurt-fulda route timetable)
Do I sense a note of schadenfreude from those who are apparently celebrating the imminent demise of PS4 and the MS equivalent in TSW?
The problem is each unique loco uses a lot of memory. That and all the extra traffic puts a strain on the system. Then you have the actual graphics and simulation elements. 8th gen is extremely old so it won't be able to handle it
As Rennkton said above, it's got nothing to do with the 8th gen systems not being able to handle the game, its just that those consoles are rapidly running out of memory/will be at limit when running the game. Gen8 are coming up to 5 years old so I can understand it.
Which means they're no longer able to handle it if they're running out of memory for it. Also, gen8 is at least 10 years old by now.
Memory isn't worked out like that though. If it was the only piece of DLC available for the game it would handle it just fine. The problem is when you load with 30 DLC's the game is going to be absolutely throttled for space, and same for some larger maps. The F59 won't use much memory in itself. And I meant, coming up to 15* years old.
