I just got a notification today that Unreal Engine's Marketplace will cease to exist and will be replaced by Epic's new platform Fab soon.

If you are an existing owner of content, you will have your products available in the Unreal Engine vault. However, if the creator uploads new files (or updates the old ones probably), they and you will need to use Fab.

Unsure which consequences this could have and how seamless working with assets acquired from old Marketplace and Fab will be in the future.

A thing to mention already is that Fab will not support question sections to ask an author for anything about their product. So maybe this is something you want do now in the time Unreal Engine's Marketplace is yet online.

Epic's new marketplace Fab, also will have an impact on Quixel.com, Bridge and the Megascans library.

First of all, Megascans content will be moved from Quixel and Bridge to Fab.

Another very important change is that most of the yet free Megascans library will no longer be free for unlimited use soon as Epic will begin to charge a fee for using Megascans content in 2025 for mainting the library and creating new content.

However, they say content will be free up from Fab's launch until the end of 2024 and if we grab it then, we probably can use it forever. Not sure if this exactly means use without fees or unlimited use without fees.

It eventually is planned to stop hosting Quixel and Megascans content through Quixel.com and the bridge application. Further plans and a date is yet unknown.
