Is xbox ever going to get the ability to move fast in the free camera again?? Not been able to since TSW 3 and been waiting months now for it to be fixed. Its a small issue I know but it's something that would be nice to have back, to look ahead of where the train is.
They removed it, but left the control in the control layout for gamepads. I don't understand AT ALL why it takes nearly a full year to either: A) Remove the control from the control layout because that was the way it was intended to be and not confuse people who look at the controls and try to use it only to find out it doesn't function. B) Fix it and restore functionality taken away for no reason except incomplete testing before release and not listening to the people who have repeatedly reported this issue in your Forums for many months now. Which one is it A or B? Either way you slice it your team have absolutely dropped the ball on gamepad controls on consoles and this bug is just the tip of the iceberg as far as I'm concerned.
I found these previous reports of this exact issue here here here here and here with no direct feedback from DTG. The only feedback I found on this issue was here where Matt says they remapped the controls but I'm pretty sure he's talking about the switch from classic to immersion controls way back in 2020 and not the current issue because as far as I know that button currently serves no function so it was remapped to nothing. It's frustrating to see these reports come in and no one is addressing the issue at hand. Please take time to fix the controller bugs. Not just the one reported here but the ones I've reported on elsewhere in your Forums since the launch of Train Sim World 4
Plug in a keyboard and use the shift key for fast camera movement. That way you can solve the problem for yourself a lot more quickly than DTG will. It will also improve access to the external cameras with the number keys and a whole raft of other keyboard shortcuts that can be used alongside the normal controller inputs.
I'd like if someone involved in the decision making or development process could actually explain why we can't have keyboard remapping on consoles. We don't even get a list of the available keys and the mostly helpful TSW4 manual instructs you to check in-game for keyboard controls. This puts any user who wants to use a keyboard on console at a severe disadvantage compared to the PC counterpart. I have always used a keyboard with TSW on console, since TSW2020 when one of the keyboard brake keys on PS4 refused to work. That was fixed for me in TSW2 thankfully, but I still see that it doesn't work for some people on Xbox? If so, that should be fixed as well. But apparently not likely to happen as they seem to not even support keyboards on consoles https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...creased-using-the-keyboard.81854/#post-847640 Adding full mouse support would be a great addition as well. Then there is no reason I need to use the immersion controls if I want to zoom because without immersion controls you cannot zoom -- keyboard or not. Other developers have managed to add mouse support to their console games so I know it's possible, but I don't know how much Dovetail will prioritize that when it feels like it takes a long time to get these fixes done already. It shouldn't take this much to have your feedback heard, I don't feel like participating any longer. I didn't start out this angry about these issues that I reported here back in October of 2023. But after directly messaging Matt in late October I didn't get a reply. So later on I ask Alex to get in touch with someone about these issues, he says he forwards it but I don't see anything done about it. Which doesn't mean he doesn't forward, just mean action isn't taken. I'm constantly pushing up reports of this issue I'm finding, and trying to get some action taken so. I finally tried messaging Matt again recently and good news he replied and said he'd add it to his notes. I'm hopeful some of these issues will be fixed soon! Sorry if I come across brash sometimes, I just get too easily frustrated.
