What is your absolute favourite station in TSW? It can be on any route. Mine is Carlisle Citadel on WCMLOS.
For the UK, definitely go with Carlisle. Germany, Dresden. US - nothing really stands out as iconic, maybe downstairs at NYGC on Harlem.
Kinghorn from Fife Circle is a good shout but I think it has to be Glasgow Central for Scotland's best TSW station.
Watford Junction (with mods), so many comings and goings (oh if only it was set in BR Blue era) and although gimmicky, I do like using the lifts
UK - Carlisle, no doubt. It even has a bench you can sit on. Sometimes it's these little details that show quality. Before JT's routes, this would have been much harder for me to decide. DE - I have to go with Dresden Neustadt, because the freight trains travel through at speed. Hbf is a good choice too. US - For me it's still South Sta. Relatively lots happening here.
Hamburg Hbf, no words needed other than the station is well modelled. Unused potential in Tsw, as HBK is by far the most "boring" route starting from there.
By the definition of favorite scenic station, I like Stockheim (Niddertalbahn) quite much. Lovely small station and some really nice scenery around to watch at. Plus you can create some cool traffic jams, at the level crossing ahead of the station if you didn't depart or wait for the upcoming service to arrive. Additionally, I like Coswig in DRA, because you can take all branches from there (Meißen, Großenhain and both diretions of the mainline), do shorter services and you can do trainspotting quite a lot.
Edinburgh Waverley was a potential candidate, but the unfinished platforms on the south side of the station (8 & 9) ruin it. I’m gonna say Blackpool North as it has lots of accessible areas, and good trainspotting opportunities as well.
Glasgow Central. The representation in TSW is very good and I love the busy timetable since the 380 was released. Just hope another route/extension comes along to take advantage of it,
Carlisle has now replaced my previous favourite Preston (as was in Blackpool Branches) but both have a lot going on in and around them in the WCML route as well as both being very well modelled. Outside of the UK, I quite like Frankfurt’s impressive long line of parallel platforms but I like Bremen more for watching train movements. In the US it has to be NY Penn as depicted in LIRR 2 for the numerous comings and goings into the tunnels and the noise the trains make doing so. It’s not a good looking station but I still like it.
Wait until they introduce the 87 (and eventually 86) in as AI on Blackpool branches. I suspect even more will be going on with the added AI and Preston will be busier.
Have to say both Carlisle and Penrith, though a lot of it comes to nostalgia of both places from my youth. However, Carlisle and Preston are two I find myself just loading up to wander round watching the traffic going along. Not many of the modern stations really compare in this respect - Piccadilly, New Street and St Pancreas are a bit barren though Brighton and London Victoria are a lot better.
New Street and and Piccadilly being quiet is all down to the developers. It should be a lot busier, but being ghost-towns is why I barely ever touch those routes.
Germany: Dresden HBF, Austria: Salzburg HBF, Switzerland: Luzern, France: Marseille Saint Charles, UK: London Euston, USA: Boston South
For me, Doncaster. It is where I have spent many many days watching trains in reallity and it is so much fun to drive a train into the station and see all its details.
On the North East Corridor Trenton to Boston route that is Boston South Station hectic in the morning if you are doing a depot run. Also if you were to do Trainspotting in game try Newark Penn. In fact if you guys go to my YouTube channel you will see most of my trains spawning videos are from there
For me it has to be one of the OGs, Paddington station. The shear wow factor when this came out, it gave a real feel of a busy train station that is alive. It has that grand roof, muliple platforms, services constantly running in and out of the station. Drive a train into Paddington, get out and hop on another train and drive that services, hours of fun. I recently looked around the all new Euston station ha ha ha NOPE!!!!! Paddington puts Euston to shame and Paddington is alot older.
I like Bremen as it is pretty busy with all layers on. If you want idyllic scenery, I go for Alp Grüm.
UK - Glasgow Central or Brighton DE - Köln or Lochhausen (HMA, personal connection in both cases) US - Boston Back Bay (quite weird)
For me: > UK: Paddington > US: San Francisco Note: not for the station itself, but due to the background of high and different buildings, and the double deck passenger trains! > DE: Frankfurt HBF
Blue Anchor on the West Somerset Railway. It's just nice being right by the water with the small town there. Cool crossing gates too. Be neat to be able to go inside the museum and signal tower like you can irl (or could anyway?), but it is just a game.
Barking station on Suffragette line, a station I know very well IRL. If it ever gets AI locos to represent c2c and District/Hammersmith & City line trains, it'll be hugely busy.
For me probably Peterborough in game - like seeing the 700s there alongside the Azuma's and the occasional 158. Would be good to get some more variety though with DLCs for other operators. Also, if I'm not mistaken, greater anglia go there irl? So perhaps if we get one of those routes that could layer on for more variety?
I’ve got a soft spot for the bleak run down 1980s British ones, so really like St Anne’s on Blackpool Branches and Ravensthorpe on NTP. Also a shout out to all the steel belt ones on Tees Valley.
