I believe these 2 routes combined would be a good choice for a Queensland Rail route set in the 1980s. This (if made properly) would have a good mix of passenger, freight, and shunting.

Ferny Grove - Ipswich route length would be about 55.59km (34.54 mi).
Pinkenba - Roma Street route length would be about 15.28 km (9.49 mi).
The combined total with the removal of the common track is about 67.12 km (41.70 mi).

Additional services could include bringing and taking locomotives out of service, at both North Ipswich Workshops as well as Redbank Workshops. The EMUs were housed on Mayne Yard next to Bowen Hills. There may been some freight services on the section between Ipswich and Pinkenba. There are also some docks just south of Doomben station though I don't know if they were in use at this time. Backdating Google Maps there appears to be a few yards along this route though I am not sure how they worked with each other and how many of them were in use.

    The base route should include
    (Must have)
    EMU
    2000 class
    1720 class (EMD)
    SX carriages

(If made it would be nice to include these if not then these would be my top pick for DLC)
    1620 (EE)
    1502 (EMD)
    DH class

    (Possible DLC)
    1270 (EE)
    1460 (EMD)
    1550 (EMD)
    2470 (EMD)
