The sale is currently running till Monday 24th here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/2022dovetailpubsale This thread is for everyone wondering if an addon is worth it or not. I'll start with two US questions: Sherman Hill and Clinchfield Railroad - are these worth getting at 75% off? I've never got much into US freight railroading with the trains being very slow and heavy, I prefer German and UK trains. I prefer more passenger action rather than freight. Clinchfield interests me because it's historic and I like historic content for TSW, however from what I've seen, it'S VERY slow. Sherman Hill seemed to have faster line speeds on the stream, but I'm not sure about the arid landscape of Wyoming.
Slow yes, but also very cheap. Clinchfield I have and it is very very good. It’s worth full price if you love slow freight but even a passing interest in it will be worth the small outlay just because it is awesome. Sherman Hill I don’t have and it is still full price for PS5 but I would snap it up faster than a lizard’s tongue would snap up a juicy beetle at 75% off, even if I only got limited use out of it. The fact that you are asking whether it is worth it means you are interested enough to get some use out of the routes, and you won’t get a better discount ever.
Two things on Clinchfield are all it takes to make it worth the price in my opinion: The F7 – my favorite US loco to drive. The Limited Power scenario – perhaps the best scenario in the game.
Sherman has performance issues out the box, but still worth getting at £6 as it is a good length mainline run and will more than likely be layered with whatever US steam DTG end up doing. That and the possibility of a GTEL at some stage. Clinchfield is a bit more of an acquired taste, largely consists of running through a valley of trees and some of the scenarios are a bit... quirky. However the F7's and the period setting is nice.
all -75% are worth it some of them are a must (RushHour DLCs?) EDIT both CRR and Sherman Hill are good fun for freight lovers
