When the Sprinter timetable was released for Fife Circle, I, and others noticed that there were no Cowdenbeath services included. However, i've recently discovered they didnt just vanish. They are still labeled as Glenrothes with Thornton services in the menu. I found this out when running the 17:17 5 car service. Im sure im probably a bit late to notice it but for those you havent, there you go.
Actually the 17:17 is the only Cowdenbeath service in the sptinter timetable. (it should soon be published in WonterRail's Timetables - I notified him last Wednesday but haven't had a reply, probably busy...) nevermind here's a little preview of the Cowdenbeath branch ;-)
Huh, i guess i just got lucky then lol. Very strange services just stop shortly after 18:00. Wonder why that is. Thanks for the info anyways.
The whole timetable is kinda "huh"! Trains following each other with a short headway and then no trains for more than an hour...
This could be one of the best routes in the sim. It's scenic and has a nice variety of services. Unfortunately both timetables seem lacking, the 170 sounds need tweaking, hopefully will be done now the 171 is out. Maybe when we get the illusive HST finally there will be a comprehensive timetable. Suspension on the 158 would be nice too.
I’m glad I waited for the 158 in a sale, but my word. I’ve never been so disappointed in a timetable, considering that I thought the original one had a few missing services, the new one was a huge downgrade, probably one of the worst timetables in game, I say that as someone who is very rarely a vocal critic. I think it needs the Tyler treatment as other than that, like said above it’s a lovely route!
Quite, I have regular experience of this. Any bus coming out of Birmingham at the evening rush hour. I thought it was an exaggeration until I switched to the bus. None for ages then three turn up within a few minutes.
Kind of a shame the Fife Circle 158 timetable ended up being less busy than the original one considering how long DTG sat on it for no apparent reason
I don't think this timetable is accurate or has ever been in use IRL. As theorganist said this route is lovely and it would really deserve a better timetable. I am actually thinking of trying to create one just for the love of this route...
I often wonder if the Inter7City HST thats very early on in development will come with a comprehensive timetable for FCL I've got to admit, even the Skyhook timetable felt quite deflating when it released. I have no idea why they thought the heavily reduced covid timetable was the one to go with. As much as I love the ScotRail 158, I felt incredibly disappointed with the way the timetable was implemented. Unless it has gaps in it for upcoming DLC I don't know... Although since it's release everything seems to have gone quiet around the whole thing.
As I've noted in other threads, hardly any trains after 1800 when in reality there's a fairly intensive service, including the Leven branch, up until midnight.
At least PC players can get the wonderful mod timetable made by Fawx, https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c111-timetables/i4676-fife-circle-2024. Even includes partial 380 runs to the west, and a fully realized ScotRail HST (interior too)
Indeed it is a very scenic route in the real world. However, for me (as a local) the scenery in game is absolutely bloody awful. From the "Airport", to the barely visible Queensferry Crossing and the absolute state of the towns (move around outside Dunfermline City station and you'll see what I mean) it's just one absolute mess. Blackpool aside, this was the one route I wanted for this game and wanted to love, but only enjoy it doing night services really.
The Queensferry Crossing is a laugh in TSW. It’s just 3 big poles sticking out the water…. The bridge looks like when it was being constructed. Anyway in TSC it looks amazing. It’s perfectly modelled so I don’t know how this wasn’t possible in TSW. I also know exactly what you mean with Dunfermline City Scenary. And then there’s the horrible ballast too… The Leven section is great though I will say. I just wished Rivet had used the ballast from Leven and replaced the brown hideous ballast with it but they didn’t bother…..
If Rivet have their head screwed on theyll revisit FCL and update it's scenery and issues. I'm not saying they will, but if they had any sense and are riding out on the success of Riveria Line, they will know they can improve their image tenfold by listening to the community feedback, taking it on the chin, and making this the 'Jewel in the crown' so to speak. You've proven your team can do good work and make a really good route, now it's time to revisit what could be a fantastic little diesel network. It's low hanging fruit that could really bring onboard those who are still skeptical of Rivet. All I can say is, the ball is in their court on this one. They'd be doing themselves a massive favour in the process too if they update the route further!
I believe at the time the TT was made Scotrail did not run on the Leven branch either so there really wasn't much point redoing the whole timetable for one station.
Fair enough. That's the trouble with being local, I guess. If the Stourbridge town branch ever comes into the game I would be the same I would imagine.
This route is probably now toast for updates on more scenary and timetable. If the (still unannounced) Scotrail Inter7city HST is going to be a part of this route then there’s a small chance still but if not… forget it. It’s done. I wish DTG had done this route before Rivet got the chance too…. It probably wouldn’t be perfect but it would have been better than what we have now. I enjoy watching the TSC version of this route on YouTube. It’s amazing. Its busy. The scenary is awesome and it’s really frustrating we then have an inferior version of the Fife Circle in TSW which should be even better than the TSC version…
