UK routes are like buses, none for ages then 2 come along in the space of a week.

Really looking forward to this one.

I’m liking the look of this. A nice big network that looks well modelled with a good timetable. Now it comes down to how good the 170 is

The route art caught me off guard with the Forth Bridge towering above the Class 170… as far I’m aware no such track exists in real life. But a little bit of artistic freedom is ok since it looks quite cool :D

I think DTG like to get as many routes out before the end of the financial year (March 31) as possible.

Considering the Levenmouth branch opens in less than 100 days, it would be great if they could include it as a free goodie to all route owners when the 158 DLC releases. They mentioned the possibility of adding the branch in the article, and the release of the 158 (which will seemingly run on the branch judging by driver training footage) would be a nice occasion for that. I’m assuming the track has already been laid by the developers, possibly even some scenery and they’re just waiting how the stations will end up looking when everything is done.

I shall look into getting this once the Class 158 is released and get them both together. Looks quite good so far, looking forward to the live stream previews.

Very much looking forward to this.

Kinda wish Suffragette was out this week to provide a little break between releases lol.

I know Rivet gets a lot of flak (rightly so in some cases), but i like that they try to implement new features pretty regularly- auto announcements really add to immersion for me when it comes to passenger routes. I'm still not sold on DTG's excuse on why they can't copy it but that's for another discussion lol.

Does "working GSMR" just mean it shows the service code like on E-G, or are there other functions?

    Going to pass with this.

In fact I think it's insulting that Rivet and DTG are putting this new route out when Rivets last DLC has journey mode chapters 3, 4 & 5 inaccessible due to sloppy programming and testing

So think it's time my wallet becomes inaccessible to this bunch of development cowboys

Class 484 + modern remake of IOW was sold as a loco DLC IIRC, so maybe the remake of 158 could be sold toghether with the Levenmouth branch? IDK, because there would be two different developers involved in the same DLC.

A question regarding the Scotrail 158:

Once ready, will this be available automatically to those who own both Fife Circle and Midland Mainline?

Maybe I’m the only one, but having to pay extra money for the 158 in Scotrail livery when you pretty much already own that unit from MML doesn’t seem like the best idea

As per the other thread this is actually enticing me in for the buy, with the only barrier being the sounds, which will make the final decision, however, as per usual with Rivet (and as has been said all along) the modelling looks absolutely beautiful especially that Forth Bridge. So I really do hope the sounds are good on the release and if they aren't they are made somewhat adequate and not left to rot away as I really do want to see the beauty of the route. It is also a much better offer than DTG with their rather dull and unexciting GOBLIN offer so I applaud Rivet for that too. Glad to know the 801s and 385s will layer at Edinburgh on FCL too.

You own an EMT spec 158, not a Scotrail one. Also you would need a new timetable to run the 158, since it won’t be able to sub into the 170 services. It’ll be more than just a remodel.

That would be upto Skyhook. Considering they’d have to go into the timetable to do it, I’d hope so.

The roadmap and stream were before the date was announced, which is in this article. Simple as that.

Looking forward to this one. Good to know that Class 801 and Class 385 layers will make Edinburgh Waverley more populated with traffic. :)

No freight on this route, or why don't we get any freight services?

As far as I can tell there are very few (if any) regular freight services in real life.

To be fair there is San Bernardino OTW & LIRR 2 was planned to of been out around now. Fife Circle is also a third party route (all of which are mainly UK devs).

Will we get playable 801s between Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy on the way to/from Aberdeen? Would be a good time to release an 801 variant with fictional uprated diesel performance to sub in for an 800.

It’s kinda a shame that it was an 801 that pulled up for DTG when they went to research it. The 800 would have offered so many more options including this.

"Free Roam will give players the option to run Class 170 services in and amongst the timetable of ScotRail Express: Edinburgh – Glasgow as well as other routes in their collection!"

Free roam is the worst thing to have happened to TSW. Just a big excuse.

Was initially quite excited for it, however it’s lacking in quite a few areas (basically anything but an A-B run), full of bugs and rather unstable. Then of course there is the lovely helping of it being used to ‘absolve’ the devs of back porting trains.

Editing and adding timetables isn't an easy task and a scotrail 170 doesn't run outside of scotland because it's in scotrail livery. Not all trains are the same so it's not just different art

It wouldn’t need a timetable if there wasn’t an issue with consist length substitution.

It’s just another symptom of TSW’s archaic core at work, another check against the wrong column when tallying up how much of a modern train sim that TSW really is.

170s are very rare at Glasgow Central and usually only appear because of diverts.

I’m looking forward to this route. I do wish that they instead went to Dundee and use that as the terminating point at the Northern end. Would open up opportunities for more layers from XC and LNER trains (if the class 800 was introduced, that is). Nonetheless, great work and looking forward to seeing what it’s like.

Just hoping the sounds do the 170 justice and the timetable includes the late night services this time, unlike E2G.

    Otherwise bring it on!

Please, please, please Rivet, go back and add layers to Edinburgh-Glasgow to match, so we can see these 170s at Waverley and LNER services to Inverness on the route as far as Falkirk

Hopefully later down the road they will include Dundee and Perth as an extension. Definitely possible with a lot of the route now built up to Markinch. plus the 170. I reckon it will happen at some point.

They've already stated they may extend the route to include the Levenmouth branch when it reopens so who knows.

Substitution doesn't add new services- that takes a timetable.
