Don't forget the major part of the scenery will only work on the custom 2024 timetable by Fawx and you also need to enable the scenery in the mastery part of the game. If you have the old Bescot-C170-FCL.pak & Bescot-FCLE2G.pak files you must remove them from your DLC folder.

While the point of the matter is not for modders to improve the experience, but rather for Rivet itself (after such a setback), we know that's not going to happen. Not to that extent! Now I could also imagine buying the route, at least a little closer, but I still hesitate. Things are already looking so much better, although unfortunately there is still so much to do.

Sad days for console players if you see what the modding community is capable to accomplished in such a short amount of time.
Shame that Rivet did not put a bit more effort into it in first place.

Sorry, love your mods in general, but you lost me on this one by ditching the bagpipes. I actually enjoy them. Others will appreciate the change, though, I'm sure.

 

You might should get in a cooperation with londonmidland also working on an enhancement mod. Because with 2 different mods for scenery enhancements to Fife Circle, you might end up creating a preference problem and users may find it hard to decide which one of them two to take.

A mod however good it is can't really replace the work of the orginal developer, because there are things which can't be changed by a modder, for example track related things like signals etc.

There is a poll going on whether or not the bagpipes should be kept as they are, lowered in volume or completely removed. Mind to cast your vote there:

Hi, The main pack has been updated to exclude the modification to the piper.
Anyone wanting to lose the pipes - will need to download both packs.

I’m in two minds about it. You do hear the pipes in Waverley when the Royal Scotsman is boarding, but basically never otherwise. If there’s a piper on Waverley Bridge, it rarely carries into the station.

 

Without Rivet you wouldn’t have this route. They built it….

 

I believe DTG wanted to make this route but since Rivet wanted to make it, they let them do it. So we would've had this route either way. Although if DTG made it, it would probably be alot better.

 

That would mean they don't have any responsibilty left and it's all up to users to correct things with the DLC.

It's not a "need you" relationship, it's a responsibilty from them to correct their products. Now we have some ambitious modders who try to enhance the route (for PC players only). That doesn't mean, they are off their responsibilty.

 

Updated again:

Foliage materials should load now consistently without having to call on South Eastern High Speed.
Added additional patch for 170 cab audio. No more odd sounds when running at higher speeds, balanced/cleaned up running sounds, balanced volume of guards buzzer and internal joints

 

170 audio updated again today, to change buzzer and PIS announcer chime to use prototypical examples. No further updates for a while now xD

 

Looks like once it hits a good sale will be worth getting.

 

I'm really pleased to say that the work that londonmidland is doing, will, in the coming weeks be added to this pack. Amongst some other things the 170 will have much improved PIS screens with a realistic class 170 font, and the official Scotrail announcements. Stay tuned!

Work is underway to added extra grasses and foliage too. Although that part is fair way off from being completed.

 

Some close up shots of the new PIS font visuals I created - each character was carefully reconstructed pixel by pixel, to recreate the real life Turbostar PIS font as accurately as possible.

I've also given the headlights and cluster lights some TLC, as previously they were simply a white colour.

 

Shouldn't be too long now, Just a wee changelog to show you. We've all been very busy getting this working with Fawx and his very busy timetable.

Route:

• Extensive addition and reworking of grasses and vegetation. Requires Blackpool DLC and FAWX'S 2024 TIMETABLE. Covers the Fife route, also Haymarket to Linlithgow and Linlithgow to Dalmeny.
• Addition of lineside fencing, and inappropriate US style fencing swapped out
• New pink scottish ballast and track
• Graffiti thinned out to remove when inappropriate
• Lighting adjustments; timers, brightness and colour of emitted lighting for stations and streets. Extra lighting added to Waverley area, Haymarket & Murrayfield stadium
• Lighting added to the Forth road bridge
• Branded signage: Scotrail, Costa, Sainsbury's etc.
• Fife coastal path signage on stations.
• Replacement textures for vehicles
• Realistic Scotrail station announcements
• Bagpiper changed for more talented street musicians, sound volume reduced
• Reverb sound volume through tunnels reduced so not to deafen you in the HST
• Missing powerlines added
• Static level crossing gates and fencing added where missing (hopefully a temporary measure)
• Main runway and aircraft placed at airport
• Scenery is work in progress: more clutter, vehicles and pedestrians to be added. Airport to be completed (assets permitting)

Class 170:

• New internal and external PIS font
• New realistic announcements *Note currently not working in 2024 timetable mod
• New PA chime
• New headlight and marker light visuals
• New buzzer sound. Thanks to Dan/GBRf66715
• Balance of cab audio, engine and run sounds, more bassy engine note
• Removed click and pops from the internal engine audio
• Replacement head/tail light textures
• Replacement cab gauge and button lighting textures

Other (Requires ECML 801 and GWR HST):

• Drivable Class 43 formations in custom pak ScotRail skins for use in Fawx's 2024 timetable
• Drivable Class 800 (converted from 801) for use in Fawx's 2024 timetable.
• Lumo Class 803 train for AI only towards King's Cross.

Wow, looks great so far! Pleased to see that that annoying 'pidgeon' typo on the big screen at Edinburgh has seemingly gone, with the change of signage.

This route was close to a pre-order for me until the debacle of the preview stream, these improvements will almost certainly push it back up my wishlist if there's a small sale later this year (hint, hint). Looking forward to the preview!

 

With all this great work happening on this route, hope a sale come soon to buy it.

Great improvements, as others above I will get this route in a sale now, it's just a shame that some of the money that is generated on sales of this route because of the mods are not actually given to the mods as a reward, after all it'll be down to them why people will decide to purchase it now.

I’ve just watched the video. Very impressive work. Makes me want to buy the route.

It’s a difficult decision. I’d once again be buying a route because of mods rather than what was delivered by the developers. I really don’t want to support Rivet releasing the route in the state it’s in.

I hope Rivet see this mod and are at least a little embarrassed.

I'm happy to wait until the EP is finished, but it's making me much more likely to buy this DLC when it is. Great job bescot londonmidland Fawx and thanks for the time you've put into this.

 

I so wish these were available to console, would actually buy it if it was this standard.

Ahhh…..that’s awkward. This turns a route which I chose not to pre-order because of Rivet’s poor performance on previous routes and poor reviews of this route, into one which I really want. But to now reward Rivet for the unpaid hard work of others by paying more than I could have paid to pre-order, feels wrong.

Like others, I think I’ll hang on for a sale - but a huge thank you to all involved in this mod for what looks like incredible work. You really should be getting your share of the proceeds.
