I am trying to find an old reskin, and I hope someone might know the answer to this because I haven't got a clue.

A Class 86 reskin exists utilizing the "Railfreight_FL" folder next to the original "Railfreight" folder. This is not a UKTS reskin. This is not a DPSimulation reskin. This is not a Vulcan Productions reskin. It is not a Richard Fletcher reskin, or anyone else who published on these sites. I have absolutely no clue where this folder comes from. Where is it from? At the moment, the best guess I have is that it's an old Class 86 reskin that WAS on UKTS, and was deleted in favour of a newer reskin that existed under ID 25787 (which has a FLgrey folder instead). It was never included with the route or the train DLC (the 24097 DLC matches - source date, October 21, 2011). It's not the AP one from the Enhancement Pack ("FL 1 AP") or the sound pack. Grey is included in the package, with six sectors, under "Railfreight", making this one unique. UKTS had a free DRS_Simstuff model; it is not this, and grey reskins exist.

Anyone have any idea? I want to figure out where this went.

(BTW, I am not against the idea of a generic "can't find this missing stock" thread as it might provide answers for other users, too!)

Good luck - the crux with repaints is they are hiding in someone else's asset folder and don't give any hint of origin themselves.

I found many packs from AP or JT installing repaints I wasn't aware of. (In the first APSWEP for example the signal enhancement pack was accidentally included, I wonder why there suddenly were "RailNetwork" folders appearing all over my asset folder containing updated signal lights.)

I have the same "Railfreight_FL" folder and looking thru the UKTS Asset list there are two files it could come from

    File ID Filename Title Uploader
    24165 Fliner 86s.rar Freightliner Class 86's Tankski
25787 FLgrey_Class86.zip RSC Class 86 Freightliner Grey Repaint 47815 - the one you have.

These all reskin the Class 86 stand alone pack - the Class86_railfreight.bin has a date of 01/06/2014
Which is well before the AP 86 EP pack

The Class 86 on UKTS was under DRB_SimStuff and installed in to that folder

    I kno
I know about DRB Simstuff. I have the 317 and the reskins that AP used in a very old scenario for 318s and have also seen the orange model used in scenario research. I know of, but never used, the 86, but now have all the downloads since the site is closed (so just reference a spreadsheet now for my searches to find the files). I know of a bunch of those 86 reskins, but also numerous ones for the payware. All told a couple dozen files, even in Rail Simulator back then.

UKTS searches did not get me that folder, so I can confirm I did not find them, but I will verify the contents when I get home (I am away right now). Time to pull out the free reskins or swap in the EP (whatever works correctly).

    Cheers for the help. :D

Another possibility is that it came from an ap extra stock pack back when ap scenarios required a less wallet melting amount of content

Assets\DRB_SimStuff\UK\RailVehicles\Electric\Cl86_2\fliner86501(or 86505)\ and we see it's indeed the DRB Simstuff.
And that is indeed the FLgrey folder in the default pack.

I did look up file 24220 "Freightliner Grey" and concluded it's the DRB_Simstuff version, but folders are wrong anyway.

24949 was worth a shot, but creates FL86501.

The Train Simulator 2013 category had nothing that fit. So yeah, I'm thinking old reskin.
I considered that. I don't have the sound pack, obviously, but it would take someone who owns the sound pack doing a dummy install to the desktop and peeking inside to find out. I'd offer to do that research as I know exactly what to look for, but c'est la vie.

I don't just mean the sound pack though, any ap products with scenarios on the geml or wcml might have included it

So you're suggesting I could check with Richard to see if this was something in an Extra Stock Pack somewhere. Or...maybe I can check all the dummy installs I have to find it. I have no knowledge of this one to date in my AP research, but I can always look.

    I FOUND IT!

    upload_2024-3-12_13-35-36.png

This is from Scenario Pack 40 (Internet Archive link, currently unavailable), as previously published by Armstrong Powerhouse, running on the Great Eastern Main Line. The extra stock pack includes a whole bevy of Class 86 reskins used in the scenarios from that pack. The skin is for sure outdated today by the Class 86 Enhancement Pack (apparently it was the FL1 folder, but now appears to be "FL_Grey_W#_AP" where # is 1, 2, or 3), but other than the free ones on UKTS and the one I otherwise found in "FLgrey", this is where the original reskin used by the scenario author came from. So I can likely use the AP one directly without issue, or at least swap to the Railfreight in this case.

The only question is whether this old RailFreight_FL reskin requires the Glass 86 sound pack. If so, it also might not work without it depending on cab enhancements. Which forces use of another skin anyway.

    Did I just out-guru the gurus? ;)

No not really, you just cared a whole heap more about an outdated reskin than anyone else on the Planet.

Thanks for the journey though it was a wild ride..

Yeah, maybe that's all it was...but I am trying to figure out now if it needs the AP sound pack or not. Going to do side by side comparisons. (My guess: yes.)

My research suggests the same. I compared the original BIN file and I did not catch any audio changes, suggesting there are no other changes either.
