There exists a TSW plugin that improves the behavior of the RailDriver controller compared to it's default implementation in TSW. However, in order to get the most out of it, you need to input the notch values of each lever on all the trains you want to use. Unfortunately there is no way to get this data natively, so people have previously been comparing the times at which the controller position changes in both directions and eyeballing it from there. But with the introduction of the editor I am wondering if there is a better way.

I'm not too familiar with the editor's capabilities, but I am wondering whether it's possible to examine the Simugraph set-up of existing locos and determine their notch values from there. If this was possible, it would make playing with the RailDriver so much better.

Find the RVM, create a child blueprint of it and load it - you should then be able to examine any control and see what its notches / ranges are.

You dont need to save/keep the child - it's just there so you can open it, as you can't open the compiled RVM.
