After playing WCML over Shap because of a scenario issue posted by OldVern, I've returned to the classic WCML North again to play "Carstairs Split" and I noticed something odd with the Tap Changer on the included Class 86. The first notch is at 2% and does nothing except for going down 1 notch and resting there. So the handle only offers OFF (Complete unpowered rundown - you can only power up again after a complete rundown to zero) - OK 2% - should be Run Down but does not work - NOT OK 60% - Hold. Tapping A increases one notch, D decreases one notch - OK 100% - Run Up - OK So you cannot run down a few notches and get back to hold at a selected notch other then manually tapping notch down. I've had a look at the uncompiled engine lua script - it expects rundown to be at 28% - which also corresponds to the correct handle's position. Then I looked in the VirtualThrottle ControlContainer in the loco's bin. - The value is 0.0286. So here's the error - changing it to 0.286 fixes the handle and it rests at the correct Rundown position now and you can stop the Rundown by moving the handle to 60% again at any time. Enjoy!
Torf Great find - I'm pretty sure that the Scenario Old Vern mentioned - used the Keith Moss Class 87? So do we need to change anything in the Class 87 xml file too? pH
Thanks Peter, no I don't have issues with the other versions. The WCML North 86 was the first incarnation of this loco and the following packs from RSC seem to be free of issues as Peter (749006) stated.
Many thanks - this worked perfectly on the WCMLN Class 86. Not needed as far as I could see for the AP Class 86.
The Tap Changer is slightly different on the AP Class 86 as you have to Hold Down a "button" + power handle to Notch Up or Notch Down. Not sure which button as I remapped the AP 86 to use the X which is easy for me to use A+X or D+X
Out of curiosity, what about the Class 86 standalone DLC? It has some different liveries and the scenarios also use WCML North. I also wonder if the scripting for the standalone, assuming it's not affected, might automatically work on the one with the route (I'm not knowledgeable enough to determine this, perhaps you can figure that out?). Nice find, BTW! Can you fix the horn? I don't think it works at all after being blown once.
The stand alone Class 86 works fine as does the horn. You could just swap the WCML-North 86 for the stand alone version and not have any problems.
