Can't you just reverse into it?

 

A lot of singular wagons were added. It's part of the code being there for Formation Designer, kind of handy that they allow us to spawn in individual wagons rather than having to cut them out from larger consists. But in regards to the tender, because it was never meant to be uncoupled in the first place there's no way to couple it from the front, it's pretty much useless.
