I saw this picture of the class 378 in London Underground livery but I can't do that in the Livery designer
Don't worry, jus give it 2-3 weeks and u will see that somebody has already done it on creators club.
I may buy the new pack soon. So I’ll give it a shot. But it’s quite easy to do. Six/Seven layers it would take. Not including markings and logo. The issue my be the TfL logo tho on usage. But that too is not a complicated design. If you want to give it a go yourself then here a some steps. 1: Get your Paint option and paint your (Edit) units all white. 2: Go to Shapes. Select a Square shape. 3: Go to Colour options and choose Blue. 4: Go to Decal options and select projection tool. Set both sliders to 100%. (Check it’s showing on to the other side). THEN CONFIRM. 5: Then go and use option 2 on your shoulder buttons. Manipulate the shape. For the bottom decal (Blue). Do this with you right thumb stick or R3 if on PS. 6: Copy the Blue Shape and change to the orange colour. Move into position. 7: Same process for the Grey (Roof). 8: Make a copy of the Grey and then move up slight. Then slightly twist. It’s important to do this to avoid the decal not taking. Ie covering all the white. 9: Copy a Grey and change to Red for the front decal. Again manipulate using the option two, and move into position. 10: Copy the Red and use for the doors. Again use the same method of adjusting the shape to size. 11: In the side boxes next to you shapes you will see a circle. This is for grouping. Select all you decals and group. 12: Then you will see a option at the bottom screen to copy to other vehicle do this and select the desired unit by again using your shoulder buttons. Once you have the right car or unit then confirm. If it’s a Two car set up then it will mirror or show as the front unit. If it’s multiple units then you may have unselect your group for that unit and make the appropriate adjustments. And that it’s for the basic layout of that livery. Just have a play with the functions first and familiarise yourself with them. It’s quite easy and simple when you get use to what does what. Just play around it’s the best way to learn. Good Luck✌.
Hahaha yep your right there. It’s fast paced when it comes to the standard livery such as the one seen above put up on CC. Even a strong possibility there is one now a few days have passed.
Hey don’t worry,,I know I may have not explained it well. But don’t give up, trust me I was the same once. I’ve failed many a time, but that’s not always a bad thing. We learn from the failures so we can do things better. Only because you failed today, doesn’t mean you will fail tomorrow. Like anything in life it takes time and dedication to a craft or skill. Failure and pain is all part of learning and it’s this process that makes the goal at the end all worthwhile. Set your self that goal and work towards overcoming the challenges. With the right mindset you will be able to achieve anything. So go on lad get it done, I’m here if you need any advice along the way. Just relax, enjoy taking your time knowing what does what. Good luck and keep us posted if you wish. Oh just out of interest are you on console or PC?.
Okay. I’m on PS5, but now I know your on Xbox I can use the right terminology for the Buttons. Have you been having a go at making it again?
I did it on TS1 (also known as TSC ) i know not much, i mean i haven't really grasped the creator's club methods yet because i'm used to making via photoshop etc (so haven't done that much "good" things for that yet. Class 378 - London Underground (Reskin) - Train Simulator Classic - GameFront
Oh Dear, well when you feel more confident about making one I’d really love for to you achieve making your first livery. I see that a Staff member has even commented, and on first glance looks like they to have had their struggles. Even me as I say, but I do things the hard way. Again I’m here if you need any further advice or anything else. If not then there are a number of videos by DTG themselves and by others on the basics of buttons, functions when learning how to use the tools in Livery Editor. It’s easy when you get the hang it, just get the basic out the way an you’ll be away in no time. Wishing you success on this journey. TSLP.
Hey I am very interested in what you, but as I was saying to big boss we all have our little struggles yet we all have our strengths too. And so I appreciate you sharing your experience and own opinions. Because I envy your skills, I can’t even send emails properly, yet I’d like to say I’m fairly good at Livery Editor. I have only used a PS4 and PS5 for my work. Simple you see, where maybe the more complex side of what you do is probably something outside of my comfort zone. Mind you I have never even tried, because again issues can hold me back. This is why I have genuine respect for those like yourself who are able to do what you do, so when it comes to you being unable to fully utilise Livery Editor then I am sure you will overcome any obstacles that lay ahead. I feel a little silly to be honest because your clearly competent in what you do as a professional for TSC. Fair play on your achievements, I can only dream of getting close to achieving what you have. And hopefully if not reaching that level personally we could inspire others to achieve their own dreams and aspirations. Like I was saying yesterday to another community member that has been helping me in more ways than one. He don’t know that but he is. Then it’s about helping those out needing help regardless of who or what the situation maybe. Even yourself who works for DTG should be able to be member of the community without any fear of judgement or endless questions not relevant to you as a person or community member. And so I will treat you as a person and a member of the community so you too can participate freely. So to save me from boring you to death, I’ll simply offer any advice or assistance to you if you need any that is. We could possibly assist bigboss with his topic if he still wishes. What ever the case I’ll try help anyone if I can. Thanks for sharing and being here with us. Lee✌.
I mean to note the things I've done in the livery editor are only personal things, I'm only a route builder , so not anyone important in the company. (compared to someone like Matt etc, so not so much "unimportant" just compared to those that post on the community). Until recently (2023-24 I was on TS1 (TSC), from 2011 to 2023/24 ish). The livery editor is not so much a struggle, it's more using shapes, so it's different - the Underground thing above I did for fun, so nothing really to do with DTG as such).
Okay I get you know. Well that’s even more impressive doing routes and now you have expanded on your own personal complications with editing I now see the bigger picture. It’s just manipulating shapes or set shapes used as basic decals used for id say a majority of standard liveries we see in real world. At times its like am actually using a proper editing program due to how well everything comes together. But that’s down to using the same basic shape palette, which when combined with the skill to alter the shapes can create a near identical livery on TSW as the one’s designed by in-house designers. GBRf livery is a perfect example of this. We have all the tools, shapes necessary available as user to create the same thing. Be TSW livery editor or a professional design studio. It’s not only about shapes. It’s about geometry and balance of the design fitting a certain style of unit or train. Again if you thing like a designer then the first thing I will do is look at the layout and overall geometry. Such as windows lines, door lines. There are many key references that are key in where the main lines should be or flow. So a 390 or 393 is quite sleek so a more complexf flowing sleek design is needed. But on a BR Class 378 then it’s squared in design so a more shape block design is usually used. Cost is a major factor in design as cost are kept to a minimum. There for all those basic shapes available can be used for most liveries seen in the UK. Cost dictates a simple easy to maintain design. So for setting your shapes up to recreate any work I would recommend starting to take references points off the TSW model. It helps by taking the same references off a real blueprint or using close photo shots. TSW models are pretty accurate for this type of approach. Then you will start to see how the original thought design process and which shapes was used for the task. In your line of work I’d assume for tracking layout then reference points are a major part of how you set up. There for you can see where point A of a curve is to point B and the degree of curve need. It’s the same with livery’s. I get every last reference point so all angles are seen so I know what shape is best needed due to its ease of movement or manipulation. I even stop myself if I am struggling. If it’s not easy then I am doing something wrong. Why because designers don’t have time or have the cost available to creating headaches for themselves. I will try again and usually get better results with less decals and more importantly less difficult less time. As a past engineer I do what I did with all my projects. Look,,work the problem not the problem work you. By looking you know what shapes are used and how to Dovetail it together. Just like you do at Dovetail Games bring it all together. Anyway I’ll have go. Busy on a little project myself which is needing a lot of focus. But in the mean time if you want to let me know which ones your struggle with I will get back to you in due course. Oh and don’t worry about my waffle. I have a nasty tendency for it. I should have been a politician. Lee✌.
That’s an extremely easy thing to do especially for a beginner. There’s no complex shapes to use so for a first livery it’s a good start, I was really terrible at the beginning when the Livery Editor came out on TSW2 but I never gave up. I kept practicing again and again and again and now I’m relatively alright at making liveries. Good luck
Hey Good advice. It what I was trying to say to bigboss in that you have to devote a lot of time to be at a good level. I was the same as you, but with determination and plenty of patience we get there in the end. So I’d like to see him succeed for it’s a very easy livery to approach as a first timer. Definitely a great way to understand the editing tools.
Good lad. Try is all one can do. We can give up, or march on with the determination to succeed. The difference between the Winners and Losers. I wouldn’t want you to be the latter, not on here. There is enough of us here to help you succeed. So please if your stuck and have any questions, then someone will always be around to help the best they can. Even me Good luck, just chill, relax and think the problem over if you do get frustrated a little. It’s only natural and as you can tell by the comments, we have all been there.
I've now uploaded it to the Creators Club. The Class 378 had some problems during painting. https://creatorsclub.dovetailgames.com/creations/207626
What?. And here’s you making us believe your a Noob. Told you that you could do it. So I’m absolutely chuffed to bits on your achievement. Great Job, I’d download it but don’t have the DLC I’m sure it will do well tho. Keep the work up as that’s it now your on your way. Well done. Oh and what issue did you face on the paint side of this livery?. (Edit) Lee, TSLP.
The roof could not be painted and on the middle cars it was mirrored so that both sides were painted at once, i.e. left and right
Mmmm, ok well firstly I’d have to own the DLC to see if it’s an issue with the model. You understand that it should be functioning as designed so could be a model issue. I have one here with the Class 700. It’s like the Model is slight wider than the settings of the projector tool. A bug on the model. So what I would suggest and it the best way to work is work from the roof view not side view. BUT!, wait. Have you done the slight twist of the decal. You have to slight adjust its angle to fill out empty spaces especially with the roof. It’s a MUST. You will have angle issues with the decal to if working from the side view. So work from the roof view down with the projector tool. Doesn’t matter if you have a massive angle to fill the gabs as the decal won’t pass the set projector level. It’s neater too. Trust me So try the twist first. If your not happy with or struggle with the right angle because it may look odd or overlap over decals. Then as I say work from the roof using the projector tool. Slider one 100% slider two is what you will use for setting so maybe around 6 to 8% depending on where you would like the decal to end.
