Hi all, I'm having an issue with the banking locomotive on my Main Spessart Bahn timetable randomly refusing to couple to the train it is supposed to push up the Spessart Ramp. I think I have narrowed it down to the fact that these long trains tend to vary quite a lot in length. The below snippet is the ending of the freight service arriving at Laufach, before the banking locomotive will connect. Code: TS2: Service P H 86058 a arrived at instruction 2 at 2024.01.01-02.35.55 TS2: Service P H 86058 a completed instruction(Go To) 2 at 2024.01.01-02.35.55 TS2Editor: Service P H 86058 a longer than expected at instruction 2. Expected length 58085.95cm, actual length 60373.11cm TS2: Service shutdown for P H 86058 a TS2: Destroying AI for P H 86058 a... TS2: Destroyed AI for P H 86058 a As you see, the simulation expects the train to be about 580 meters in length, while in reality it is extended to more than 603 meters, almost 23 meters longer than expected. Investigating this service in PIE, I saw that the locomotive slammed into the back of the train, resulting in an overlap of both models of about 0.5-1 meters. After that the sim refuses to couple with this error message in the log: "TS2: Service P Bank2 86058 C: Stop Manual Couple". This error message is then repeated for the remainder of the simulation process, eventually blocking the entire line. As stated: the bug occurs seemingly random: the same formation might function one time and then fail another time. In fact, the service shown here was simulated correctly but failed while I was playtesting some other bug in PIE (without ts2.dbg.ForceTimetableStartWithIncompleteData because I made changes to another service). I have been searching for a place where I can add some sort of extension length to a formation, so the simulation knows the formation to couple to might in fact be a bit longer than expected, but I do not seem to find it: I checked the service start node, the formation node, the RVD of the formation and the RVD of the individual cars of the formation. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a solution for this? I'd like to be 100% sure that these services will couple, so I'm sure my timetable is free of random bugs ruining the gameplay. Fwiw: substitution is disabled for these services, as I need the MSB DB BR 185.2 (Railion) for the banking comms.
