I’m impressed by the number of German members contributing to these forums and suspect we native English speaking types are outnumbered. I understand some forums have the capability of including a translate button within each post and wonder if the software behind this one has a similar plugin. Many posts on the PC Editor forum are now in German, often with an English translation very helpfully provided, but it could be useful for all parties to have some optional translation facilities built in.
Most browsers have a translation tool preinstalled or it can be found in the addon stores. I think the problem lies within moderation. Whilst automatic translation today is good enough for users who don't speak the language, it's not good enough for moderation. That's why the forum is English only (as defined by the rules). If I would be allowed to write in German, knew that there are no German speaking moderators and I'd want to prevent my rule breaking message to be deleted, I could easily use slang words in my message, that an automatic tool either can't translate or will falsely translate, as the word has multiple meanings. In my opinion there isn't really an excuse for using the forum in any other language than English. It's the most spoken worldwide, if you somehow aren't able to speak it today, there are many (even free) methods to learn it out there and you can use translators to help you finding the correct terms.
Yes, that's true. For browsers you often can find addons (browser extensions) that translate automatically. I think this is exactly what OP is looking for. I use Firefox, but know that Microsoft Edge even has an in-built translation tool if you rightclick on a webpage and click on the respective option + it even has auto-speech generation and hundreds of dialects available if you're too lazy to reading. I used that feature quite often in the last 2 years after I discovered that. Google Chrome also has one in-built afaik, and should use Google Translator for it. In case you don't know, DTG even has a german Moderator on board since a year now. It's dtg_jan who also is present in some livestreams (including the upcoming Semmeringbahn one) and even did a tutorial on the TSW Youtube channel on its own. So moderation of german content would not be a big problem anymore I think. Focusing on the PC Editor Forum (as OP mentioned) and the amount of german porjects and german audience in there, it's more than just reasonable why german should be allowed at least there. In fact, I even made a suggestion in the Suggestion Forum for allowing german officially at least there in the PC Editor Forum. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...rman-to-be-used-in-the-pc-editor-forum.78404/
