The Franken-Thüringen-Express consists of five regional express connections and one regional train line. When Regional express trains run three times every two hours, each beginning and ending in Nuremberg. To Bamberg they all run parallel to line S1 of the Nuremberg S-Bahn. A connection is made from Bamberg via the Nuremberg–Erfurt high-speed line without intermediate stops to Coburg and on to Sonneberg. The line after Leipzig Hauptbahnhof runs to Bamberg together with the line to Würzburg Hauptbahnhof. In Lichtenfels they will Train parts divided to Sonneberg and to Saalfeld. In addition, a regional train runs hourly from Bamberg to Lichtenfels, which is continued every two hours to Kronach.

The two-hourly RE connections Nuremberg-Leipzig/Würzburg and Nuremberg-Sonneberg/Saalfeld complement each other Lichtenfels every hour. On weekdays, several bi-hourly regional trains from Kronach to Bamberg operate as RE bis Nuremberg extended, so that this with the RE Sonneberg-Nuremberg (over the high-speed line) from Bamberg to Supplement Nuremberg to an hourly service. As a result, the offer is consolidated together with the other two lines between Nuremberg and Bamberg sometimes every half hour.

From Nuremberg to Haßfurt (towards Würzburg), Schney (towards Sonneberg) and Redwitz an der Rodach (in the direction of Leipzig), the network of the Franken-Thüringen-Express is integrated into the greater Nuremberg transport association.

    story:

The connection was put into operation with the timetable change in December 2011 due to the late delivery of the new trains, however, were initially used instead of the new electric multiple units, double-decker trains. In addition could not be opated due to a lack of trains, the direct connection from Nuremberg to Jena, so in Lichtenfels had to be switched. The full commissioning of the line with new trains took place in December 2012.

With the timetable change in December 2017, the train routes were reorganized and a new direct connection from Bamberg introduced to Coburg via the high-speed line, which changed the shortest travel time between the two cities reduced by half an hour. This also increased the number of connections on the Nuremberg–Bamberg section, which has since been served almost every half hour. In addition, new RE system stops were installed at the Transfer stations set up in Breitengüßbach and Hochstadt-Marktzeuln.

In February 2018 it was announced that the Franken-Thüringen-Express would run from Jena to Leipzig Hbf from 2019 is extended because the ICE connection on this route due to the shift to the high-speed route Nuremberg–Erfurt was discontinued. This concept is intended to serve as an interim solution until a new long-distance connection via Lichtenfels, Saalfeld and Jena. This eliminates the stop in Jena Saalbahnhof, between Jena and The Franken-Thüringen-Express also stops in Leipzig in Camburg, Naumburg and Weißenfels. The trip from Jena to Leipzig takes about an hour.

    Vehicles:

Bombardier Talent 2 electric multiple units (442 series) are used. On the line Nuremberg–Bamberg–Coburg–Sonneberg have been using class 193 locomotives (Siemens Vectron) since December 2017 five double-decker cars of the types 780.1 and 785.2 operate, with one each of the control cars due to the lack of ETCS equipment Locomotives operate at the Zugspitze and end of the train. DB Regio Franken leases six locomotives from Railpool for this purpose.

In the spring of 2014, ten of the 22 multiple units at that time were voted on in an internet vote for the name of the baptized stretch of lying places. On August 22, 2014, the Franken-Thüringen-Express was opened at Bad Staffelstein station in Bad Staffelstein, which had received the most votes in relation to the number of inhabitants, representing the nine other trains baptized. In January 2018, another train was christened, this one was named community Breitengussbach.

This would be another DLC titled Franken-Thüringen Express.

I would be very happy if the Franconia-Thuringia Express or route: Nuremberg - Sonneberg (Thür) HBF would appear for the TS 20xx!

    Kind regards
