Introduction: I was looking at the Frankfurt S-Bahn Network map the other day when a great idea came about and I thought to myself that this route could work really well in TSW. So here I am sharing my suggestion and hopefully, it will be a reality one day. I'm also burnt out of the simple A to B routes so here is a route idea that is unique, diverse and interesting. Route: Thanks to the Main River this route is split into two. First, you have Wiesbaden Hbf to Frankfurt Hbf via Frankfurt-Höchst Farbwerke: This line runs north of the river and has a distance of 41.2km. It utilises 13 stations. This part of the route has S-Bahn, RB and RE services. Secondly, you have the route running south of the Main River from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt via Mainz and Frankfurt Flughafen RegionalBahnhof which is around 45km. This part of the route utilises 17 stations and has S-Bahn, RE and ICE services. Main Playable Services: There are many services on this route, I'll do my best to list them all and provide sufficient details about each one. (S1 Rödermark-Ober Roden to Wiesbaden) In TSW this will start/end at Frankfurt. The S1 line runs north of the river and primarily uses DB Class 423 electric multiple units (EMUs). The S1 stops at all stations between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden. This service has an average journey time of 40 to 45 minutes and the S1 generally operates every 30 minutes. (S8 Hanau to Wiesbaden) In TSW this will start/end at Frankfurt. The S8 line runs south of the river and primarily uses DB Class 423 electric multiple units (EMUs) The S8 line stops at all stations between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden via Mainz and operates every 30 minutes and doesn't operate during the daylight off-peak, according to the timetable. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). This service has a journey time of around 50 minutes. (S9 Hanau to Wiesbaden) In TSW this will start/end at Frankfurt. The S9 also runs from Wiesbaden to Hanau, but it takes a different path around Mainz. While the S8 goes through the centre of Mainz, the S9 bypasses Mainz via Mainz-Kastel and then crosses the river using the Eisenbahnbrücke in Hochheim, slightly cutting the journey time to Frankfurt Flughafen Regional. The journey time using the S9 service from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt is around 40 minutes and operates every 30 minutes. It also uses the DB Class 423. (RB10 Frankfurt to Koblenz/Neuwied) IN TSW This service will start/end at Wiesbaden. The RB10 service is operated by VIAS GmbH and primarily uses the Stadler FLIRT. The RB10 service operates north of the river and only stops at Frankfurt-Höchst, Mainz-Kastel and Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof, then it continues to Koblenz. The Journey time from Frankfurt to Wiesbaden is about 30 minutes and operates every 30 minutes. (RE4 Frankfurt to Karlsruhe) In TSW this service will start/end in Mainz. The RE4 is a limited service operated by DB Regio Mitte and they primarily use DB Class 429 electric multiple units (EMUs) for this service. This service runs north of the river until it crosses it using the Kaiserbrücke in Mainz. Then after Mainz, it branches off to Karlsruhe. This service operates 5 times a day in each direction stopping only at Frankfurt-Höchst, Hochheim, and Mainz. The journey from Frankfurt to Mainz is around 35 minutes. (RE9 Frankfurt to Eltville) in TSW this service will start/end at Kastel. The RE9 is a limited service operated by VIAS GmbH and primarily uses the Stadler FLIRT. This service runs north of the river and only stops at Frankfurt-Höchst and Mainz-Kastel, then branching off to Eltville. This service runs 6 times a day in each direction and has a journey time of around 25 minutes from Frankfurt to Mainz-Kastel. (RB75 Wiesbaden to Aschaffenburg) In TSW this service will start/end in Mainz-Bischofsheim The RB75 service is a half-hourly service operated by DB Regio Mitte and primarily uses DB Class 642 diesel multiple units (DMUs) this service stops at Mainz, Römisches Theater, Mainz-Gustavsburg and Mainz-Bischofsheim before branching off towards Aschaffenburg. The journey from Wiesbaden to Mainz-Bischofsheim is around 25 minutes. (RE2 Frankfurt to Koblenz) In TSW this service will start/end in Mainz. The RE2 is a limited service operated by Vlexx GmbH and primarily uses the Stadler FLIRT 3 (specifically, the FLIRT 3XL model) This service runs south of the river and stops at all stations between Frankfurt and Mainz except Frankfurt (Main) Stadion. The journey from Frankfurt to Mainz is around 40 minutes. (RE3 Frankfurt to Saarbrucken) In TSW this service will start/end in Mainz The RE3 is an hourly service operated by Vlexx GmbH and primarily uses Alstom Coradia LINT diesel multiple units (DMUs) for this service. This service runs south of the river and it typically stops at all stations between Frankfurt and Mainz with some services skipping Römisches Theater and Mainz-Bischofsheim. The journey from Frankfurt to Mainz is around 40 minutes. (RB58 Russelsheim Opelwerk to Laufach) In TSW this service will start/end at Frankfurt (Main) Flughafen Fernbahnhof. The RB58 is an hourly service operated by DB Regio Mitte and primarily uses DB Class 642 diesel multiple units (DMUs). The RB55 is a short but important connection, mainly serving commuters to and from the Opel car factory in Rüsselsheim. This service stops at Russelsheim Bahnhof and Frankfurt (Main) Flughafen Fernbahnhof before branching off towards Laufach. It only takes 10 minutes between Russelsheim Opelwerk and the Airport. Short playable services: Here is a quick list of other playable services that are worth mentioning. (Frankfurt-Farbwerke to Frankfurt Hbf) S2 primarily uses DB Class 423 (Frankfurt-Höchst to Frankfurt Hbf) RE20/RB22 is operated by DB Regio Mitte and primarily uses the DB Class 146.1 pulling double-decker coaches. RB12 is operated by Start Deutschland GmbH and primarily uses Alstom Coradia LINT DMUs. (Mainz Hbf to Römisches Theater) S6 (Rhine-Neckar) is operated by DB Regio Mitte and primarily uses Siemens Mireo EMUs. (Frankfurt Niederrad to Frankfurt Hbf) S7 primarily uses DB Class 425 RE70 is operated by DB Regio Mitte and primarily uses DB Class 429 EMUs ICE Services: Multiple ICE services are departing Wiesbaden, Mainz Hbf, Frankfurt (Main) Flughafen Fernbahnhof and Frankfurt Hbf, This route can have playable ICE services, but they will be short runs. Freight Services: It's hard to get accurate freight service details for this route but I can list some industries that have rail accessibility. Industriepark Höchst - Tor Süd This Industrial complex has multiple chemical plants, Container loading/unloading terminals and industries. Due to the size of this place, it properly would be a nightmare to replicate in TSW, but it would be a shunter's heaven if it was in TSW. Shell Petroleum (Flörsheim) This complex is owned by Shell and it is possibly used to store and transport fuel. Rüsselsheim Opel Car Factory. Opel is a German car manufacturer that produces automobiles, electric vehicles, and commercial vehicles. Opel was founded in 1862 by Adam Opel in Rüsselsheim, Germany. These are the main industries on the route that would provide lots of freight and shunting potential. I would love to see the Rüsselsheim Opel Car Factory in TSW the most as I don't think a car factory is in TSW yet. Conclusion: Why would I like to see this route in TSW? It provides many services, with many different paths and has lots of Replayability. In one session you run an S9 service to Wiesbaden then you could run an RB10 service back to Frankfurt. If there were to be a new train developed with this route, I would love to see a DTG version of the Stadler FLIRT as this EMU operates two services on the route and it's highly requested. I hope you enjoyed reading this and hopefully, in the future, this route will become a reality.
To me looks like you are trying to finish the S8 and S9 lines on Kinzigtalbahn Frankfurt am Main Fulda Hbf. The missing section DTG needs to build is Wiesbaden Hbf Frankfurt S-Bahn Tunnel City Tunnel Offenbach to Offenbach Ost.
I have already suggested the Full S8/S9 personally there's no reason why it shouldn't originate in Hanau. The S-Bahn trains don't originate at FFM HBF but rather the Low level platforms and generally runs different trains (mostly the BR 430) even with route hopping I think it odd to drive 15mins to Offenbach then route hop to complete the rest of the service
Correct also you can try doing this in the 1990s RE3 628 Niddertalbahn S8/S9 DB Baureihe 420 Rhein Main Verkehrsverbund RMV decals. I wonder how long does it take to run S8/S9 Frankfurt am Main Central Station to Hanau
So I was speaking to Lukas and he said there's an issue with tunnels in TSW making the route impractical, but in the 80s/90s S14 (Wiesbaden-FFM) and the original S8 (Hanau - FFM) never went into the tunnels so that whole above ground network would be pretty cool
according to new Roadmap, this is happening? day one purchase... kinda shame that the S-Bahn tunnels in Frankfurt Fulda arent accessible
