I didn't see the problem at first but after being offered to be bought the full game cos I play on the free starter pack so much it kind of dawned on me. I Have hundreds of pounds in DLC and add ons for TSW and because I only drive British trains and learnt British signalling, id rather not pay for DLC I'm not gonna use makes sense. But it appears to all my friends and family on the Xbox network I play a free demo of the game for hours Glad my pal asked instead of just gifting me it or he'd have paid for an American route and German route I'd never use and bought a British route I already have. So the question is am I the only one who thinks a Free starter pack is a bad label for players who buy the routes but don't want the whole pack? And if so what should the next "Free starter pack" be called? I will add suggestions to the poll for people to vote on. I'll cap at 2 votes (1 for yes or no and 1 for a suggestion) but if there is a lot of suggestions and hype i will add more votes Me personally I would instead of "Train Sim World 5 Free starter Pack" Just TSW5
It’s only a minor problem, but I had much the same thought myself and assumed the free starter pack label would be dropped after a while
Yeah I thought the same thing but apparently it's here to stay hence why I think it should be changed for the next one
The "Free Starter Pack" naming convention was born out of necessity. In order to give away the base game (minus additional content) the name needed to change for everyone, regardless of whether you purchased a bundle or got it for free. This was a requirement from the platform holders (PlayStation/Xbox). This way, everyone gets the same game, and we're not maintaining a "Free" version, and a "Paid" version of TSW 5.
Surely a name change is needed now since the Free Starter Pack is no longer available? It's misleading otherwise.
What's in a name? Just tell everyone you were smart enough to take advantage of free software. No stigma in that. I bought the deluxe version but as I rarely play any of the routes that came with it, I wish I had been as smart as you and gotten the " Free Starter Pack " myself.
Fortunately I live in a place with Good friends and my problem is my friends feel bad seeing me play a free starter pack and I don't want them gifting me it out of pity I have miles of routes and all the locos I want I just don't want to see a notification that someone has bought it for me cos then I have to feel sorry for them and explain it's not a demo again and it's not the version they are playing with just the training centre
Ahh okay I was just wondering if for the next one the name could be changed? Obviously a rename after release is out of the question too much work for no good outcome
I hope another free starter/upgrade pack is done for the next version, which hopefully isn't coming to us this summer, as I don't want to pay for routed I can't play because they're too intense (assuming the next iteration still supports gen 8) for my console. Also, TSW5 could have a longer lifespan, so its issues can be rectified and not abandoned. I haven't fully committed to TSW5. For some routes, I still play on TSW4 because the texture issue isn't as bad and the only reason I have TSW5 is because of the free starter pack.
Since posting this post my display now shows TRAINSIMWORLD5 and the route I am on and even the Headcode of the train Very impressive thankyou
