There are routes like Cajon Pass which seems to be blocked for using randomizing liveries at all. Why cant we use two main features of game - timetables and liveries at once? DTG Matt? PS. I know there are created scenarios, but for me it is very very minority of gameplay.
i just wish we were able to turn off custom liveries for timetable mode unless you choose to drive your train in one
Although the issue of custom liveries not appearing in timetable mode has been broached now and again, not much has come of it, I'm afraid. This does not only affect CJP; there are many other instances where custom liveries do not appear, either for an entire route or for certain stock within a route. The funny thing about it is that, for the release of the SD70 on CJP, DTG necessarily had to enable substitutions, and therefore custom liveries. So since the release of the second loco pack, custom liveries for the SD70 and ES44 have been enabled. I had hoped that DTG would go ahead and fix the entire route, but no; the SD40 and all freight wagons still do not have this enabled. It's an open question as to why DTG haven't corrected this problem, in CJP as well as other routes. The solution has been described as being as simple as having a certain box checked. It has also never been explained why so many routes don't seem to have this enabled in the first place. One of the updates post-TSW3 was supposed to have increased the instances that custom liveries appeared; however, I have personally not seen any change after that particular patch.
Exactly to the point, thx. Its weird DTG doesnt recognize the randomization of the cars as advantage and attraction in the eyes of the customers.
The essence of the problem is that for some reason, livery substitution somehow checks the "unloaded" box, so any alt-livery car becomes empty, and wrecks the whole point of Cajon Pass (really heavy trains). The reason that livery sub has been left in Oakville alone out of all the routes, is because OSD is flat and short and pulling empty cars doesn't affect the experience very much. Still, I don't know why this programming boo-boo hasn't been fixed.
Although you are correct, we are speaking of two different things. The substitution you are referring to involves wagons from one DLC showing up in a different DLC. The SPG covered hopper showing up in CJP, for example. This functionality is disabled because, as you say, any wagon from a different DLC results in a weight of zero for the affected wagon. However, I believe what we are speaking of here is custom liveries such as can be created or downloaded in Creators Club. These do not affect the weight of wagons. For instance, custom liveries show up on all the locos and wagons in SPG in normal timetable play. However, they do not display in CJP, and many other places. There is no reason for this other than DTG forgot to check a box, which was proven when custom liveries suddenly now work for the ES44C4 in CJP after the second loco pack, because of updates they made to implement the SD70ACe on that route. I agree that if we had substitutions from other DLC working, as well as fully enabled custom liveries, then we could have some really nice freight trains with many interesting wagons. However, DTG has not shown any progress in solving the zero weight problem of substitutions. Custom liveries, on the other hand, seems like such an easy fix. It's just a checkbox! I have submitted a ticket for this issue in the past. However, I have yet to see anything that didn't work fixed, save the aforementioned ES44 on CJP.
DTG Matt can you please adress this case? The freight trains (SPG, CJP, HSC, SH) are washed out from any custom liveries.
I suspect there has to be some sort of tick box which needs to be enabled for each individual engine / wagon, which somehow determines the frequency of CC liveries. Regarding german content I never saw a CC livery on the BR 103 or its coaches, yet nearly every DRA Dosto set has at least one CC livery in it. The BR 185s are most of the time in their stock livery, the 110 and 143 instead quite the opposite. Freight Waggons most of the time stock except some Habbins... and so on, I don't think it's necessary to elaborate this further at this point unless we get some proper insight... if we may?
the ones that are liveries will only have a Chance at appearing if the wagon/train in question is set up to allow Ai to take on random liveries from your downloads and creations. If it is a train livery you should be able to select it. As you can’t select which wagon liveries manually anything other than above won’t appear. ive always wished for this to be updated, to allow a player to choose how liveries spawn in (ai or player selected only) and what routes each one does.
This is an ongoing problem: it seems that whenever a freight wagon takes on an alt-livery, it automatically becomes unloaded, which screws up the train physics. So alt-liveries on freight wagons have been disabled (except on Oakville) until they get the problem sorted - whenever that is.
This is a good point, remembering that, even for routes such as SPG where liveries can appear, you can only have a max of five appearing at any one time. So, no matter how many wagon or loco liveries you have either created or downloaded for SPG, you will never have more than five display per service selected. Which five? It is random. So, having a choice as to which ones you would like to see would be nice. However, of course, first the functionality should be enabled on all routes, for all rolling stock.
US freight routes are monotonous, the proper livery randomization would be a game changer. BUT there is always another DLC to release and patch it, so very little time for core upgrades... CJP is so dull for now.
Is there any progress on this as yet? Could someone from DTG please, please, please update us as it's been ongoing for so long now and is something affecting all platforms.
I started suspect it is intentionally sabotaged by DTG for the licensors trains good looking purpose...
Oh puhleeeze. This is the issue with wagon randomisation, not fixed yet because it transpires it's a fairly big bit of heavy lifting to fix it that involves rewriting the whole cargo system. As to why just plain *liveries* don't work - i'll look into it... I suspect someone forgot to tick the "allow substitution" box - because a wagon subbing for an identical wagon just with a different livery should not have the cargo load issue as far as I know. I'll let the conspiracy theories continue now... Matt.
I'm honestly wondering if alternative freight car liveries could be a thing on future US freight routes, cause with Cajon Pass we got 2 60ft boxcars, one in BNSF colors and one in DTGX (TTX) colors, but they are their own car and cant sub for each other, it would be nice if that could be a thing in the future (Especially on vintage routes with multiple boxcar liveries on top of using CC liveries as well)
Hi Matt, Can you check the box on SEHS as I get the 375, 465 and 395 liveries subbing in but dont get the 66's or the 700's. (PS5) (or on the series X) Yet my mate on the series X has started getting custom liveries. The only time I get a custom 66 or 700 livery (and its the same livery as I am using is when I use one myself). We have an ongoing thing for Hoo Jcn as in Whats in Hoo.... 100% of the time it comes back as EWS as booked lol Tony
Thnx for show up Matt... I remember you saying about this issue few months ago... Ticking a box for year or more makes any kind of theories ... OC Heavy lifting need more than that... (decent dpu, simulated couplers physic, common braking physic... )
Just out of interest why is Oakville the exception to the rule? Does it not have loaded/empty cars like the other routes?
Matt explained that because Oakville is short and practically level, and the trains are short as well, it didn't really matter if subbed cars were empty, so they left it alone.
That's odd because I get custom liveries on the 66 and 700. Although I see the 700 liveries quite frequently, I will say that the incidence of seeing a 66 livery seems to have been reduced since the 700 was released. There are some times at Hoo when I don't see any 66 custom liveries at all; they formerly seemed to be much more common. But I can confirm that they still work for me. This on Series S. I also do not seem to be able to get the 465 liveries to work, but apparently they work for you. Strange.
On any other route... I agree 100% but for me on SEHS on either the Xbox or PS5 (need to check PC) since having TSW 3 the last time I had a class 66 with a custom livery show up in Hoo or Dagenham or Kings Cross was over 9 months ago (on the PS5). In the TSW 2 SEHS version you would get at least one every run. That was until tonight. I was driving trainbow of all things on a service to Maidstone east and was about to go EWS as booked at Hoo (its a thing I do on my Discord) and I had the following show up at Hoo!!! Not just one or two but Three of the same loco.... lol There was a normal EWS and a RHTT 66 there. That's the first time I have had a custom livery 66 show up on SEHS. I'm just wondering if its the sheer amount of 66 liveries I have. Because I had an NSE 465 appear as well (possibly for the first time since before the ROG 37 was released). I recently got rid of an old Southeastern custom 465 livery as well as a CC created white 375 livery. Nothing wrong with it to be honest but i have DTG's version installed. I also have 4 custom Class 395 liveries as well. So I wonder if its because I have them. But as shown below I had custom 66 liveries show up tonight abliet the same loco number / livery. So now i am even more confused.com.... lol Tony
You just reminded me of a couple of caveats. First of all, remember that no matter how many custom liveries you have for a particular route, only five can display at any one time. So yes, even if you have lots of custom 66 liveries, if you also have lots of 375, 395, 465, and 700 liveries, you might be crowding out the 66 liveries. I believe the selection is random every time you start a service. Second of all, and more specific to the 66, I seem to remember on a similar thread that we talked about how the 66 custom liveries might not show up on SEHS unless it is the TSW3 version. I am not sure myself about this because all my 66 liveries are the TSW3 version, but worth a look in any case.
