I’ve found through both the LGV and SEHS routes that I just love driving routes with TVM in place. I was wondering why we haven’t seen more French routes in TSW? I have no clue around the issues with licensing or anything else which I’m assuming is the main reason but it feels like a real gap in content! Any ideas why we’ve only seen the one so far?
It's surprising they haven't revisited France given they've put the effort in of building the safety systems and signalling already, and LGV is supposedly one of the most played routes. Personally I'd prefer a legacy route to another LGV, something like Basel-Strasbourg would be nice.
A commuter route starting from Marseille would be nice, so the two routes could be layer into each other to make a busier terminal. Currently the terminal on LGV looks very sad and empty with only the TGV stock around.
i agree, i think routes with TVM are nice (and much better than the german routes on LZB). TVM doesn't hold your hand. LGV Med is a short 30 minute rally race rather than an hour long adventure of sitting and doing nothing which you experience on something like Kassel-Wurzburg. you are constantly having to react and take control of the train to brake and accelerate because its far from a flat route, more like a rollercoaster. wouldn't mind having more. though i also agree that it would be nice to see a french route which is along a traditional mainline with classic intercity train sets and freight for a unique french railway experience to what we have on LGV.
Completely agree, would be interesting to get a sense of what KVB is all about as well as from what I can tell that seems to be the local non-LGV signalling system so would be more than happy with some slower commuter routes to play around with!
I would like to see part of one of the classic routes from Paris to the English Channel coast. Calais, Boulogne or Dieppe. Corail stock and those great SNCF electrics and diesels. Or how about the Cherbourg area. Or the absolute cream on the bun would be something along the Riviera Coast.
Not for everyone but London to Paris would be an absolute delight to get announced for me anyway, I don’t know the route greatly but the stock, distance, stations, speed and area it covers really peaks my interest massively.
This is more realistic in TSC. At a whopping 212 miles (342 km) route length it wouldn’t be doable. It would be an amazing experience/drive though, just thinking about it feels me with joy.
While not fully a French route, I wouldn't be surprised if DTG ever ports this route to TSW at some point. Its TSC counterpart is 70mi's, so its doable for TSW. (Not sure how it would be gameplay wise though)
Just a few kilometers of French rail, really. Strasbourg is just across the Rhine from Kehl, while the vast majority of the route is entirely in Germany, so this would kinda be the French equivalent of the German section on Vorarlberg. Extremely busy, hopefully, although TSW is missing a lot of the rolling stock that would be necessary to fully deck out the route. IRL the Rheintalbahn is one of the most important and busiest stretches of rail in Germany. It's the major thoroughfare to Switzerland, Italy and, to a lesser degree, France, so nowadays the route is usally running at or above maximum capacity for most of the day. Lots of international and regional passenger services (ICEs to Switzerland and France, TGVs, ICs, ECs to Switzerland and Italy, several different RE and RB services as well as tram-trains of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn) and a constant, never-ending stream of mostly international freight trains. There's a good reason the route is four-track between Offenburg and Rastatt.
Would love the LGV Rennes line via Le Mans from Paris with some race cars to drive as mastery or collectibles. I haven't seen any video of commuter trains in France. Do they even exist? Sarcasm yes. Maybe someone can enlighten us.
It won't happen as they cannot get a license with Eurostar. I'd prefer a land route in France anyway. But each to their own. I just don't like the idea of 50km stretch of tunnel.
Of course they do. If you look up pictures of Marseille Saint Charles terminal, you can see photos of them and realize how empty is the in-game rendition with only the TGVs at the station. Which is why I think a french commuter route starting from Saint Charles would be a great idea, so with two rouch starting from the same terminus, they could layer into each other for AI traffic to populate the terminus.

I'd love to see another french route. Once took a train to Annecy from Lyon and it was one of the most scenic journeys I've been on, passing lakes surrounded by hills and mountains. I think it'd be great to have a route like it in TSW especially now with the use of lidar to create mountains.
I agree France really ought to have been covered more by now, it's equally as important as German routes I'd of thought. DTG must have licensing to have done a French route in the first place. I think DTG need to balance things out more in continental Europe, there is a whole rail network out there beside Germany.
I think a Eurochunnel route would hurt DTG since a 50km tunnel is so boring. Even if they got the license. I'm sure many would much prefer a French land route or German route that you can do 300kph on like Kassel Wurzberg or Marseille-Avignon.
I don’t have a clue about everyone’s route preferences but to me 25 minutes isn’t anything too bad, Kassel Würzburg seems more intensive with tunnels tbh, and with something like London to Paris I imagine the route would be able to break with the fact that it’s just one long tunnel where this occurs. maybe even split the services in parts as close to the tunnel as possible or the option to skip to the end of the tunnel perhaps for those who want it.
I wonder if a) SNCF licensing for other than the TGV has been a problem, and b) if the Focus byout might change that
not necessarily, it will be all about the actual agreements with each license, if it’s given to DTG then they can use it how the license agreement agrees.
There’s one issue with SNCF, it’s regional trains, if it’s intercities services or TGVs by exemple, it might be easier, but for regional trains, as TER trains are funded by the “Région” which applies its livery (there’s some neutral one but very rare) and with this money, the SNCF acquires trains. And trust me, asking for the Region council is hard. I like LGV routes if they’re really long but honestly I prefer some routes alongside different coasts, we have different scenic locations. Why not a narrow gauge international line between France and Switzerland, it’s running with 3rd rail in French section, that would be interesting (Saint-Gervais to Martigny)
Something like the RER ligne A would be great to see in TSW. Whether that is run by SNCF, RATP or Oncle Thierry Cobley I don't know.
in real life there are not 186 at Strasbourg the most of 186 are in north of France or east but at Woippy and Fret sncf has only 12 locomotive 186 i think ,it was for replace the BB 36000 btw France and belguim and there are old 28 by nmbs/sncb
It's insane that DTG have not made another French route since LGV, given they already have the licence, and I'm sure a ton of people would be willing to advise on signalling etc. What are they waiting for? Surely we have enough German red box and UK one-handle commuter routes? Personally I would not want another high speed route though.
I'm not that interested in french routes, like I assume many others are also not, but I would love a remake of the TS1 route from Strasbourg via Europabrücke/Kehl into Germany. For me, pure High Speed Routes are kinda boring, but a mix and different possibilities is welcome, like Munich-Augsburg, Köln or even SEHS.
Yeah but I hear Eurostar are extremely strict regarding their license, probably due to security reasons. I'm sure if they had given the license to DTG, something would've appeared at least on TSC by now and would be selling like hotcakes! Ah well, doesn't stop us from trying to make one ourselves. But it would be nice for them to consider it, even getting the E320 as opposed to the E300 if needed (I'm happy with either). I'm not sure I'd enjoy the route as it's mostly 160kmh through the tunnel if memory serves me right, but some more traffic for HS1 is welcome!!
things can change as with any other license was my original point for the Eurostar licence. Something what is not accessible currently isn’t guaranteed to stay that way.
Have you contemplated making it yourself? With the tunnel being so long it takes a lot of work out of scenery placement. Where would it go to?
Hum yes btw paris and massy TGV tunnel and after massy TGV too the tunnel does 13km long about But we needs only twoo new trains TGV Atlantique and euroduplex 2N2 3UFC (océane) for this route and 200 can run on this route
nope, most likely will never open the editor never mind make anything (I only use XSX for TSW) when it comes to programming, simple can be fun and complicated I find no joy in doing.
