Hi guys, does anyone know of a list of UK DMUs and EMUs available to buy for train sim please, I'm becoming somewhat of a collector, many thanks.
Have a look on Steam and sort it by name for DTG items https://store.steampowered.com/search/?publisher=Dovetail Games - Trains Just Trains has the 153, Voyager Class 220 + 221 and East Midlands Class 222 AP has 11 different DMU & EMU https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/rolling_stock/multiple_unit2 You should be able to create a list from that
Not of any volume, no. One of two people who are handy with Blender knock the odd item out once in a while, but generally, most who create models do buildings and other static assets for routes. Modelling a loco is EXTREMELY labour intensive... it takes a LONG time, which is why I think paying £24.99 for a AP loco is cheap, whereas most moan about it - they just don't understand what goes into it.
Agreed it's a very time consuming process but when it's something you really enjoy doing then it isn't laborious, I have re-modelled a few things in Blender over the years for either ETS2 or Farming Sim 17 The only thing I've ever modelled and textured from scratch. https://i.imgur.com/VcWBxMm.png >> https://i.imgur.com/jfkht3i.png (yes, just the key and fob) So anyway, yeah modelling whilst seeming like a dark art is like anything else if you have (and are prepared to invest) the time then anything is achievable. After watching 6 or so of Mark from JT building his Wakefield to Knottingley series I've come to the conclusion route builders have an insane amount of patience and perseverance.
I used to do a great deal of it back in the Amiga days using Lightwave.. nothing as complex as a locomotive though (good job, because sometimes renders took DAYS on complex scenes... even with a 060 processor). I know enough to appreciate the skill and time... but not enough to do my own.
So off-topic it hurts I know, but... Amiga with Cyberstorm 060 [50MHz) board = 28 mflops Raspberry Pi 400 = 16200 mflops
Well, yes, Waggonz have made the Class 142 Pacer, the Class 313 EMU, Class 90 and are currently making a Class 87 electric loco, Railright made the Class 40, both sell them through Richard Armstrong's website. Skyhook Games made the Class 58, Just Trains developed the Class 153 DMU and the Class 60 and made advanced versions of the 20 and 67, etc, so, some Multiple units and locomotives are made independantly from DTG, you just have to know where to look, that's the secret. Cheerz. Steve.
AP and Just trains were mentioned already. The point was, although there are developers like Waggonz, Rivet, Skyhook, Gu Studios etc.. they release via AP or DTG, so effectively, if you want to buy, you go to DTG, JT or AP. There is of course Digital Traction that still sell their steam locos and waggons directly via their website. If there's anyone else who sells directly please link to it as I'm sure it will be useful information to everyone.
Yes, I was going to mention Digital Traction and Steamsoundssupreme, BossmanGames, Caledoniaworks and VulcanProductions as well, I just ran out of time. Cheerz. Steve.
There is this pinned thread listing many 3rd party sites. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/third-party-repository.3548/
I meant apart from the usual suspects we already know about. I'm not saying the list is bad or anything, as anyone new will obviously find it useful.
I can give you the TOPS classes that aren't in TS from my own list. Diesel Locomotives: 01,05-07,10-13,15-16,21-23,26,28/29,53 Electric Locomotives: 71/74,77,81-85,88. DMU: 100,102,103,104,108,110,114,115/6,119,120,122-131, 139-141,185*,195/6/7, 201-204, 206,207,210,230,231,251 EMU: 302,304,305,306,307,308,309,310,312,317/2*,318,323,331-334,357,376,379/387,385,397,401,404,405,410-12,413-418 (SR Bodywork only) 501,502/3,505,506,700,701,707*,710,717,720,730,745,755,756,777 *Understood to be under construction for TS. Trains not yet in service are in italics. I've excluded classes that can be reasonably replaced by a very similar unit. Diesel fans do better than electric it would seem.
We need a diesel/electric version of Caledonian works, someone who will build and sell some of the less "popular" classes or less obvious choices. For example there are plenty of freeware routes which could use more first generation DMU's and EMU's like the class 103 dmu or class 304 emu (South Lancs/Cheshire) or the class 501 (backdated NLL) which maybe the more enthusiast core among us would purchase but not the more casual enthusiast who just purchases from Steam and only "headline" trains like Flying Scotsman. Caledonian works produces some quite obscure steam loco's, most of which have no obvious payware route available and seems to do well. I would happily pay £24.99 for many items on that list, in fact I would probably bankrupt myself! Many of the above list in MSTS would have been built by freeware builders but in terms of building rolling stock after a good start freeware builders in RS/RW/TS have been thin on the ground.
I Know its a older thread here but theres is a list extisting with UK trains available. It gives a good overview which train is in which addon included (in a route addon or as standalone). German site! https://rail-sim.de/forum/lexicon/entry/186-rollmaterial-in-großbritannien/ Same for US trains: https://rail-sim.de/forum/lexicon/entry/190-rollmaterial-in-usa/
The editor made the usual mistake of calling the MK3 DVT in the AP Class 90 Pack a Class 82 which it is not. If is a Driving Van Trailer in the 821xx series. Same as the DVT in the 91 Mk4 pack is in the 822xx series A Class 82 look like this
