This is Southern No. 1401 It is probably one of the best-known steam locos in the US, because it resides in the Smithsonian. But the color is what we're talking about: "Virginian green" was introduced as Southern's new passenger livery along with these, the second tranche of Ps4 Pacifics. The reason for it, though, is that railroad president Fairfax Harrison had recently visited England, and was quite taken with LNER apple green. So, another British import!
