I’ve recently been enjoying the new route hopping feature using the two Just Trains routes that both contain Preston station and it got me thinking about the huge potential TSW now has at its fingertips. As much as I love finishing a long service from Carlisle to Preston then taking another one to Ormskirk or Blackpool, I can’t help but get very excited at the prospect of a southbound route out of Preston as it would be a great addition to the game for the following reasons. If a route was to come out from Preston to say Manchester Victoria, it would open up the possibility of travelling from Carlisle to Leeds without leaving the game, on the same clock and in the same conditions, something which I think would really showcase not just the route hopping feature but also the strengths of the entire game. Personally, I’m very excited at the prospect of this. Now, imagine that we get a route between York and Leeds that branches out to Doncaster and all of a sudden we have a link between ECML and WCML, from Carlisle to Peterborough, with just two new routes. I’m sure your imaginations can fill in some interesting blanks by adding just a couple of routes here and there and I’d be interested to hear them. It’s really got me excited for the future of TSW, and at a time when virtually all of my favourite locos are now in game. A couple of other potential journeys I’ve dreamt up with realistic route additions are Carlisle to Stoke with the addition of Preston to Stoke. Preston to Manchester Piccadilly/Airport would also open up some great new potential combinations with the upcoming ATS route. Over to you…
