Hello. I'm here to recommend a game to people. Please note this game is not in any way railway related and is very good but quite difficult. Anyway. Here it is: Game recommendation: Elite Dangerous A first person space ship simulator/arcade game. Brilliant game! You start off training. Then you work your way up earning money by ethier: Helping your faction,(empire, federation, alliance or independent (empire is the best)) Doing missions from boards at stations, doing passenger runs or fighting wanted people in combat. Work your way to the biggest and best ship in the game, or maybe even a fleet carrier some day! Build a squadron, fight aliens and humans alike and enjoy! Explore the entire milky way from the comfort of your home. This is elite dangerous. I highly recommend it. This is a very fun space sim/arcade game with lots of lore and lots to do. Anything could happen here) Private Group Session (Create your own private group and invite friends to be part of a galaxy with just you guys and all the in game a.i) Solo (It's just you and the a.i here. Enjoy a slightly more laid back version without having to worry about online pirates) CQC (Close Quarters Combat. Matchmake with other players and battle it out in fighter craft for the winner!) Here an awesome fan made trailer someone made. For context. A well known acronym in the game and astronomy is: Oh Be A Fine Girl & Kiss Me Each letter in that acronym is a star type. This music video (completely fan made) Is one example of the amazing team work in this game. There was a community goal set to explore the galaxy and this was one of the teams jumping together from system to system exploring together. Another Multiplayer option is MultiCrewe wich only works on some ships. This means you can have a crew ranging from 1 or 2 players. The crew can deploy a fighter and back up the mothership in combat. Scan for targets. Operate hard points and drive S.R.V's. (space buggies).

Honestly if I wanted to play a space game, I would go back to EVE Online. Yes, it's technically not a space game in the way most people would describe one but more like an RPG that happens to have a space theme but at least it has massive amount of depth. Elite Dangerous on the other hand feels very shallow and blank, restricting random player interaction (and eliminating any need for it) to a point where it starts to feel like a single-player game while lacking most of it's traits like good NPCs or an involved storyline.
I have played ED a fair bit, mostly in Solo, circumventing the galaxy and ending up at Beagle Point. In all honesty, I prefer the X games (well up until X4) which combine exploration, trading and various plot threads. Reading between the lines on Reddit I get the impression ED might be approaching end of life, not so busy as it once was and treading water so far as further development is concerned. Still it is tempting to dust off my Guardian tech refined Anaconda for one more round, those nail biting moments at every neutron star jump etc.
Ooh! I'm still not sure I want to try and chance neutron stars! Nice! I recently bought an anaconda to go along with my imperial cutter. Still need to get Gaurdians teach though. Cool that other forums members are playing it/used to play it though! Honestly people are giving up on it cause of the oddysy update being advertising as some big amazing thing and then being really laggy and not what people expected/wanted. The horizons version on console is still good to play. And I'm still grinding at robigo trying to get a fleet carrier. It's worth going back to. It's a shame so many people are giving up on it though. I liked the random events and stuff. I used to play it non-stop during lockdown and I loved going on and finding out some station had been attacked and needed help, etc...
I never got round to buying the Odyssey update - there are better games like Mass Effect for planet surface combat etc. However and I possibly misinterpreted this on Reddit, only players with the newer version with Odyssey will get any updates.
Yea. I'm on console so it's a bit of a shame. We won't get any new stuff but at least the servers are still operational and we can still play the game. (Mass effect is also a good game, I completely agree)
Yea. Also a game I enjoy. I feel elite is more realistic though in the flight aspect and it's got a different gameplay setup overall.
